    Bruce's Singing

I don't know if it's the best... As I said before, during the first three tours it was godlike mode for me all the way. However, last week I was listening to 22 Acacia Avenue live in Dortmund 1983 (broadcast) and man... That thing is scary. IMO the best version of the song I've ever listened to...

    Bruce's Singing

Mmmm... he sounds fine in Maiden England (although there's something that's holding his massive output to come even nearly what he is capable of, resulting in some songs sounding a bit strained) and to a lesser degree he sounded a bit off during the various gigs from that tour I listened to...

    Bruce's Singing

I don't know... Not that he sings badly or anything close (to be fair I'd rather have this version of him than anything post 2008, which is perfectly rational). But his performance sounds disengaged. He doesn't hit those notes with the power and conviction he did one or two years prior. Don't...

    Bruce's Singing

Amen! NPFTD's vocal take on the studio version always sounded mega strained to me (the man even gets off key). Which is strange because of the variants (controlled ambient, multiple takes). Because, come on... take SIT i.e. : when it comes to Bruce's performance in the studio to me that's the...

    Bruce's Singing

Amen to that. I try to forget that thing was even released. It's painful to listen to (literally, since Bruce is sick as hell and the effort to sing - even so poorly - must have been huge).

    Bruce's Singing

Mmmmmm although sounding decent during the first half of the tour, he was already sounding tired and strained as hell on the American leg (check Rock In Rio 2022)... which is completely understandable. Now... this last tour I can easily say it's the best I've listened to Bruce sing since 2014...

    Bruce's Singing

Yup... utter BS. Like I said: every decent Maiden live album has overdubs. And I wouldn't bet my money on the fact that subpar releases like "A Real live/dead One", "TBOS Live Chapter" or the abomination that is "Night Of The Dead" are utterly devoid of those, either

    Bruce's Singing

Every decent sounding live album has overdubs, let us be honest. And if we're talking about 90's onwards, they have TONS of it. In the case of RIR it's blatant - since there's the broadcasted TV version (just check the clansman... how the tempo goes completely off the rails on the intro).

Yup... I can easily SEE it in the album version. :p

    Bruce's Singing

Yup.... some of the songs on the video are subpar compared with the album version. But then again 82 to 85 Bruce was on godlike mode and that LAD album performance is nothing short of jaw dropping (so everything short of excellent during that period is noticeable). Unpopular opinion here - I...

Put your initial thought after your first listen to the Senjutsu album to one sentence please.

Three years later it aged a bit badly. Some songs started getting tiring. and it's funny how my view on each one shifted. Senjutsu (same/ better): It's kind of a slow burner but it's quite enjoyable, with a slow, strong, tribal pace that captures the ambiance of its lyrics on point. It's far...

Put your initial thought after your first listen to the Senjutsu album to one sentence please.

Something like this: "Yeah! It's quite good! No fillers, Melodic and a handful of truly engaging tunes (Stratego, TWOTW, LIALW, DOTC, HOE). They still could repeat some sections a bit less and some tracks have some melody recycling syndrome, but I can get pass it. Those one-string melodies...

Paul Di'Anno passes away, age 66

Sad as f... today. Paul's years with Maiden are among the top legacies ever in Rock. Two albums plus some extra tracks and not a single filler on my book (except perhaps Burning Ambition). And all featuring pristine performances by Di'Anno (perfect guy for that era). Killers was the first...
