Maiden songs you are currently stuck on

Dance of Death is still figuring large and moving up the rankings for me... every time I listen to it I'm a bit more like  :yey: The driving nature of it just blows me away. Added to that recently are El Dorado, the Alchemist, and, given how much I've compared them on this forum, playing...

Which decade of Maiden do you prefer?

Speaking for myself, yes. Lord of Light alone goes nutty prog, as does S15...TFF. TROBB is also a good prog rocker. Phantom doesn't even begin to come close, seeing as how it was born in an era of prog-rejection. Maybe it was prog hangover?

    The Prisoner

also  :ok: - in fact, I would be ok if I went to a concert and they played this and the Clairvoyant. I would go home and say "Maiden played the best set ever." :)

    Still Life

Songs you want Maiden to cover.

The minute I read this, I had to listen to Close to the Edge again. My favorite album of all time (yep, even above Maiden). However, even though Maiden has gotten awesomely more prog in recent years, I shudder to think of Bruce's vocals where Jon Anderson's should be. The only way this would be...

Ban Rotam because I'm in Baku and haven't banned anyone in a while.

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Again I say hear hear. WTWWB clicked immediately, but I think GOTN is never going to click for me. Something about all of BNW is a bit off for me, with only the Wicker Man, Dream of Mirrors, and Thin Line as absolute must-haves, IMO. Title track is pretty good too. But GOTN promises and doesn't...

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Hear hear! If Ghost of the Navigator had a better chorus I would swoon for it, but I just won't count the cost!

    The Alchemist

I  :ok: with this one even without the strikeout for TMWWBK. I think this is spot on.

Songs you want Maiden to cover.

Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is an AWESOME call. I'd like to hear 21st Century Schizoid Man (King Crimson) with Maiden flair...

    Ban the person above you

Ban Perun for thinking the moon is just the sun at night.

    Your Maiden blasphemy

OK, you're right on that - utter bollocks. We may disagree on relative degrees of greatness, but Passchendale sucks and WWTB overrated and Revelations boring?   Something in there for everyone to hate!

    Your Maiden blasphemy

latest (considered) blasphemy - DoD is a MUCH better album than BNW. Better all the way through. Higher highs and higher lows. BNW strikes me as them shaking the cobwebs off, DoD is them getting back to 80s form. Yep, I'm the main blasphemer on this forum :)

    Public Enema Number One

Agree entirely (although I think it's a tie with Run Silent Run Deep). When I was 20, this was the best on the album. Catchy and fun. Best Nicko pre-song intro too, imho.

    Tailgunner

Not a bad track, I liked it a lot when I first heard NPFTD and thought it was a solid opener, even if it seemed to be Aces High 2. Time has soured me a bit on it (chorus gets annoying), but the underlying riff is excellent and I think Eddie as a Tailgunner is one of my fav Derek Riggs creations. 7.

Maiden songs you are currently stuck on

Here here - I love me some country every once in a while. Variety is the spice of life! Which I guess would be a problem if all you ever heard was one type of music (say, country), but it's always good to expand the horizons, and I am impressed by the breadth and depth of musical knowledge in...

METALLICA Is Most Influential Rock Band Of Last 30 Years

Can we keep sight of what's really screwed up here... Green Day at number two? A bunch of whining, pampered, spoiled brats singing about weed and idiots? Second most influential? In a metal mag? They're not even hardcore enough to be punk... much less metal. Boy, that cheeses me off.
