New Single - The Writing on the Wall

fantastic point. yep, Chemical Wedding sounds absolutely fantastic and (to me) where Bruce should be singing permanently now. even staying away from high notes/registers, the dude owns some of the best pipes and phrasing of ANY singer. gonna go listen to The Tower now - and, hey, how about...

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

ok...pushing mid-60's now. point is, the guy has done, what, 2,000 live shows in his career? you cannot sing at 60 like you did at 20 or 30 or 40...or even 50. he will utterly be unable to scream at all at 70 guaranteed. he needs to recognize that he literally comes close to blowing his...

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

totally agree! Bruce is pushing, what?, late 60's? the guy cannot and should not try and hit those high notes any more. nobody should expect that . instead they should drop tuning live a half step and he should sing within his (now normal) range. guy still sounds fantastic in terms of tone...

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

Yep, you nailed it man. Very spagetti western Ennio Morricone kind of feel to it...but in a good way. Very King The Stand vibe. I love that. Bruce's voice (on crappy stream mind you) is still somewhat muddied up in the mix....like TBOS...to the point of being hard to understand. Not sure...

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

for me personally the bottom line on WOTW is - light years (pun intended) ahead of 1) super simplistic 70's throwback Speed of Light and 2) dull (again) and super weird, nosiy and forgettable El Dorado, and 3) monotonous, boring, amelodic Wildest Dreams. only Benjamin gives it a run for money...

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

thought it was a VERY encouraging sign of a great album to come. much better (on first listen through YT so, yeah, let me qualify statement later) production than BOS with a very up-front, clean and "immediate" sound. nice little riff intro. big chorus. apocaplytic themes. what's not to...

I still can't believe The Thin Line Between Love and Hate is not a classic

yep, great song, killer groove, very efficient and punchy which Maiden has not done much of since BNW imo. not quite classic but i never skip this song...nomad i do but not this one

    Best Iron Maiden 'guitar' album?

^ we're talking subjective arguments, guys. all of what i said is MY opinion. the only song i said was single string intro is WY. i never said CSiT was a single open string intro. of course the verses and choruses are power chords...as are 90% of metal guitar compositions. glad you guys dig...

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

I like WOTW just fine however I think it's too soft to be the title. And why would they tease the actual title? It's a tease but I don't think they are giving away the surprise. My bet? The title of the album is none of what has been mentioned and it will be a surprise. Everything *could*...

    Best Iron Maiden 'guitar' album?

^ i hate the overly-wet / reverbed sound on SIT tracks like Sea of Madness, Heaven Can Wait and Caught Somewhere. All those songs kick ass but the poor distortion tone doesn't work well with chordal strummed riffts. songs like Wasted Years sound killer bc of the single string/note structure...

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

generally i agree, but they used it really well on Paschendale - probably my fave modern Maiden song in terms of epics. it was done really well it augmenting the killer heavy guitars rather than (the usual in metal) the strings way out in front of everything in most metal/symphonic metal (which...

    Best Iron Maiden 'guitar' album?

As a mediocre guitarist of 30 years... 1. Brave New World (for the textures and amazing tones) 2. Seventh Son (so many great riffs) 3. Powerslave (Aces High is ACES - no better intro riff to any album ever!) 4. DoD 5. AMOLAD (hate the production but, damn, so many killer, steely riffs!)...
