Which Maiden songs we should consider as a ballads/power ballads ?

how is Wasted Years not being mentioned here more? to me that is THE definitive (if few) Maiden power ballads! all about longing for home and and the love you left behind and of course growing older etc etc

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

enjoying reading all the observations/takes on the new album title/cover/tracklist. personally, i wish there had been more short songs as i get fatigued by the epics unless they are really varied in arrangements/temps/time changes. i really don't care for the 2+ minute long intros of tinkling...

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

The cover certainly makes an impression. Love the new band name logo - the bevel is a not touch...although that's a band logo that definitely doesn't need improvement to begin with. Eddie looks pretty scary there. Don't like the abundance of fangs but otherwise it's pretty bold. This looks...

Wasted Years was the intro to Maiden for a lot of people...including me. And, yes, it is the first Maiden song any chick could get into lol

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

there are absolutely some good tunes on Load (Until It Sleeps, House That Jack Built, Bleeding Me, King Of The Day to name a few) but it's the reality that Metallica were largely phoning it in at that point and embarrassingly aware of fashion and NOT sounding metal at the time. one doesn't have...

Daniel is an OT major prophet and, yes, has how book. The chapter-verse you're speaking of regards Daniel's unwillingness to acknowledge/worship Nebuchadnezar as god and that's why he was thrown into the lion's den. Yes, of course, this and Genesis (and probably many 6:13's in Bible) could fit...

I will agree that the MDeth trio of RIP, CTE and Youtanasia is FANTASTIC, right up there with anyone !

I disagree on damning the Black Album. BA has plenty of good songs. Sell-out/poppy? Sure, okay. But the songs are solid. They work. There's definite groove and they still hit it hard with My Friend of Misery, Of Wolf and Man, and Struggle Within. It is indeed the beginning of the end but...

Dude you are missing the macro realities of the record business. CD/album sales PEAKED in 2000. EVERYONE's sales have fallen since that time. That includes Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce (who cares)....EVERYONE. Maiden's declining sales of albums (let's call SSOASS an anomaly is...

Look I'm American and the American music scene has been utter shit for about 30 years. Since the rise of hip-hop/rap to absolute (and sad) dominance. American popular music hasn't evolved in that entire time. We're a bunch of automatons when it comes to all things popular culture. Maiden's...

hey dudes, for those of you that dig acoustic guitars, this dude pretty much covers EVERY Maiden song in a brilliant way. he actually heard the new song and releases his cover LESS THAN A DAY AFTER (!) guy is amazing, enjoy!

Gotta chime in the Powerslave vs Seventh Son discussion - yes, I'm old enough to remember (even though the hardest music I listened to at the time was Van Halen!) the music scene during Powerslave era and, like the NOTB shirts, the Powerslave shirts MADE that album cool/scary/awesome. even if...

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

exactly. it gets tiring hearing (only here strangely enough) how "out of touch" Maiden is when - let's get real here - they are one of the VERY few metal bands still writing material that is relevant today as it was 30 years ago. name another ! don't give me Metallica even though they are...

i owned Paradigm Reference Studio 100's for over 15 years and loved those speakers. haven't heard the Persona series but i know Stereophile etc are all very keen on them. yeah, metal domes are usually too bight but as you get older less so. i switched to MartinLogans last year ESL 11's and...

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

missed about 20 pages of updates - so is the smart money that album title is indeed Belshazzar's Feast??? that seems likely right?

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

part of the reason they drop tune (at least M'deth) is not only can Dave not sing high/snarly AT ALL anymore but the very complex guitar parts are easier to play in drop or open tunings. playing some of their RIP or CTE stuff live in regular tuning is an absolute bitch.

New Single - The Writing on the Wall

i won't listen to the new tune again until i can get a decent copy. want to hear it as it was intended rather than through YT etc. but, yeah, i'm hearing that same congested thick overly-mid-range verse vocal that has been a hallmark since TFF to my ears. very hard to discern the lyrics last...
