"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

I've mentioned it in this thread, but it was about fifty pages ago probably - do you think IESF has a certain Fire of Unknown Origin vibe to it?

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

Great, great interview, just finished listening to it. I just love listening to him talk. Anyway, the Times Square video interview will be available from Thursday if anyone is interested. I think the interview itself will be conducted today (Tuesday evening US time).

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

Eddie Trunk mentions an interview a year and a half ago, when Rod and Nicko were there. Does anyone have a link to that? It'd be interesting to hear them...

Not surprising. ^^ Also, Bruce sounds a bit strange, doesn't he? He's stuttering more than usual.

    TBOS Tour Predictions

It's been the same since Brave New World, at least. I think they used a smaller stage set for Ed Huntour and the Blaze years. But I find it funny how they say every time they've got a "new stage". :D

    That's pretty realistic, yeah.

    Tears Of A Clown

Yeah, but by being solo Bruce to some extent, it's more Bruce than Clown which is not solo Bruce or even Bruce for that matter. Bruce. :D :D :D

    If Eternity Should Fail

Kind of reminds me of the ghost zombie pirate LeChuck from the Monkey Island series. :D

    If Eternity Should Fail

Well, maybe he's just well-mannered. No reason you shouldn't say good day to someone, even if you're going to devour their immortal soul. As for the song, after two full listens to the album, I think it's the best one on it. It has no superfluous parts, it's not a jumble of forcibly repeating...

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

I agree with you and @Kkbou - he sounds powerful in the lower registers. Just compare his sheer power in If Eternity Should Fail against the too-fast high notes he has to sing in The Red and the Black (or other stuff the Mother of Mercy chorus etc). If Eternity Should Fall... I can't listen to...

    Tears Of A Clown

I have to disagree, I think IESF is the most "solo Bruce" thing here.

A Matter of Life and Death Dissection

@LooseCannon - Truly great and deep analysis, I'm impressed. I remember you saying that you'll do an in-depth analysis of Isle of Avalon (you did one for Starblind), how 'bout tackling that one next? :)

Yes, there's been a leak on Friday/Saturday. It's all over the Internet now.

You should post the review in the album thread in the Commentary section of the forum, more people will read it as it won't get lost in the noise of this thread.

If someone applies for FTTB and wins, they still have to buy a ticket, right?

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

I chose DoD as the best of the group and went with the SotC one as the runner-up. It's a bit more fun than 2MtM. Also the fact that I'm sick of hearing 2MtM on every live release might have something to do with it...

The Chuck Norris of Classic Rock

Keith Richards, pure and simple. He'll remain roaming the Earth with the cockroaches after the nuclear fallout will have settled.

    TBOS Tour Predictions

He "played" violin in the Killing Floor video, dressed as waiter, if I'm not mistaken.

    Empire Of The Clouds

First listen: The intro is very nice, but there's no chance in hell they'll pull this one off live without a serious keyboard player to cover all the piano and synth parts. Maybe Jordan Rudess for a special show. :P Anyway, it's interesting. A lot of different parts, but in two or three places...

    Tears Of A Clown

What Eriko was talking about was the production, that won't change one bit between the leak and the official release. The only thing that will slightly be different is the overall sound, but the difference won't be that drastic; it might even be inaudible to most people.
