I don’t see where you called that out in your initial complaint as a caveat, but we can all pretend you didn’t make a mistake if that makes you feel better. And I responded to the substance of your argument too, so I’m not sure where this accusation of obfuscation is coming from.

    USA Politics

I could continue to put it in quotes every time I use it, but the reality is that the right wing has successfully co-opted the term and changed its standard definition. We can keep pretending that isn’t true, or we can accept it and move on. I’ve chosen the latter. I feel compelled to point...

    USA Politics

Of course different candidates polled differently, and issue potency was more of a factor than the perceived wokeness of the Democratic brand; but it is true that the “D” next to someone’s name makes them politically poisonous in large swaths of the country due to that perceived wokeness of the...

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

Even when it involves jumping straight to name calling?

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

Classy. Different people have different opinions.

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

Probably because the studio version doesn’t have a rhythm track there either in that particular case, so nothing is missing. I’m not suggesting adding stuff that was wasn’t there in the first place, just not losing parts that no longer need to be lost.

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

When you have to drop the rhythm playing to play the harmonies live, the bottom of the song falls out during that part. You put up with it in a two-guitar band because conveying the harmony is more important in that section, but once you have a three-guitar band that compromise is no longer...

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

Yes, but in a live setting instead of having one person play rhythm while the other two play the harmonies, they often add an extra octave harmony and still leave the rhythm playing out. I mean, WTF?

    NOW WATCHING

Unfortunately, John Woo’s return to Hollywood was not an artistic return to form. Poorly paced, overly melodramatic, and mostly anemic in the action department, even after things finally get going in the third act. Probably still better than Paycheck, but not by much.

Bruce’s solo U.S. tour will eat up a large block of that time.

What's the worst Maiden song where the songwriting credit only has (Harris)?

The Educated Fool - 3/10, one of the worst songs in their entire catalog, IMO.

No Prayer For The Dying Vs. The Final Frontier

This one’s fairly close for me, but TFF is a little bit stronger overall, mostly due to its much better back half.

    Bruce Dickinson

I thought Roy was well along or done with BTP as well, but it seems like he got the boot there, which also made me wonder about Skunkworks.

    Megadeth

Title track of the new Ellefson-Soto album. The lyrics are trite, but otherwise it’s pretty good.

    Bruce Dickinson

I like the sound of Skunkworks in general, but there’s a very treble-y lean to it that would be interesting to hear evened out. The low end is already very punchy, but the high and mid range aren’t ideal.
