This. I threw it a pity vote because I don’t think it deserves to come in last.

For me, Live’s great albums are their even-numbered ones, and the odd-numbered ones are patchy or weak. (Secret Samadhi comes the closest to breaking that pattern.) Over the years I find myself coming back to Birds Of Pray more often than the others.

That was me. Killer album, for the most part very hard alt-rock. “Like I Do”, “Lighthouse”, and “The Sanctity Of Dreams” are some of the more obvious highlights, but almost everything on there is great in its own way. Try it before you dismiss it!

Some people recall talk of just an Atmos remix, while others recall an Atmos + “More” style remix. I don’t know that we ever got definitive sourcing on this, but Chris Dale apparently heard a snippet of the updated version and liked it…?

Thanks for reposting the comments. Wow, what a prick. Too bad, since they made great music together for a while; but I’m glad Bruce is cutting the dead weight and moving on.

    Bruce Dickinson

Finished my first full listen, and for me the first six tracks are clearly superior to the originals, but then it starts to come off the rails a bit. “Shoot All The Clowns” doesn’t benefit from the added horns, and the emphasis on the lower vocal harmonies is weird. “Fire” is a mixed bag, but...

Just checking his level of commitment to his principles. It’s actually possible to get phones and chocolate that don’t fall prey to his stated concerns, but you have to pay a premium for them. I should have been more clear about that in how I worded my response, but he still had (and has) an...

Vaenyr was talking about scaling up pure communism, though.

True, but once corruption sets in on a system without extensive checks and balances, the march toward authoritarianism becomes inevitable, either to impose control on a system that’s spiraling out of control, or to impose the will of the corrupt people who managed to weasel their way into...

True, though trying to insert capitalism into an authoritarian system is often an awkward fit, as we’ve clearly seen in China. If the government can quickly change the rules and pull the rug out from under companies, it makes it very difficult to plan and very risky to do business in that...

Communism falls apart once your collective gets bigger than about two dozen people, because interpersonal politics and corruption start to find their way in. This has happened repeatedly in intentional communities. The idea of implementing it at a national level and having it actually work is...

Maidenfans Best Album of The Millennium: 2002 FINAL ROUND

My review of my own nominee, Luca Turilli’s Prophet Of The Last Eclipse, goes into a lot more detail; but suffice it to say that this bouncy sci-fi power metal album is a unique beast with consistently great songwriting. If you want something simple but perfectly executed, try “The Age Of...
