    Guess The Iron Maiden Song!

    Alternate Album Titles

    1. Running Free (even though Iron Maiden is fitting too) 2. Purgatory 3. Children of the Damned is the only other one that could fit the theme 4. Revelations 5. Powerslave is a perfect name and a perfect theme 6. I guess Wasted Years, that has a strong feeling of time too 7. The Clairvoyant or...

    Journeyman

Lyrics are great, although they might be slightly too repetitive towards the end. The acoustic guitars create an atmosphere that is completely different from any other Maiden song, but at the same time it still feels like Iron Maiden, as is usually the case when they experiment a bit. In this...

    Age of Innocence

The instrumentals are ok but nothing too special, the lyrics are pretty lame. 5/10

    Face in the Sand

This song features a very interesting heavy atmosphere and definitely holds your attention, but I feel it never really takes off as it could have done. Still a good song, 7/10 for me

    Paschendale

While I don’t think it’s the best song on the album, it’s still great. All the parts of the song are very well designed and executed, as well as interesting and emotional. However for me the song is too disjointed to be an absolute masterpiece. So while it’s still an incredible song, I wouldn’t...

    New Frontier

A decent song, not much more and not much less. It’s hard to call it a filler considering it’s pretty unique, as it’s Nicko’s only contribution and it’s strangely specific and one sided. I don’t agree with the lyrics, but I somewhat respect Nicko’s opinion and I like that he doesn’t push his...

    Gates of Tomorrow

This is where the album starts to head downwards a bit, after a very good start. A filler-ish song that is somewhat saved by a catchy chorus. 6/10

    Dance of Death

This one is my probably in my Top 3 together with Powerslave and Rime of the Ancient Mariner. I genuinely can’t find any downsides to it, while there are many incredible things. First of all, Bruce’s almost spoken vocals are incredible, and work very well with the misterious atmosphere, that...

    Montsegur

One of their heaviest songs, even though Bruce’s vocals, while very good, seem sometimes too happy for the subject matter. Also, there’s something weird about having the vocals over the guitar melody. I still really enjoy this song, I just think it could have been arranged better. 8/10

    No More Lies

I really really like this song. Among the positives we have a great buildup, thoughtful lyrics, a great vocal performance, a very cool riff. Repetition doesn’t hurt, partly thanks to Bruce’s emotional vocals. 9/10

    Rainmaker

A very good song, still catchy and fun but a bit more interesting than Wildest Dreams. 8/10

    Wildest Dreams

I don’t really get the hate for this song. It’s not incredible, but it’s a fun rocker nevertheless. 7/10

The Thin Line Between Love and Hate

A very strange song, an 8 minute closer that is not a proper epic. The end result is pretty good though, as the song is interesting and less repetitive than several tracks on this album. Bruce’s vocals are absolutely top notch too. 9/10

    Out of the Silent Planet

This song probably drags on a bit too long for its own good. Nevertheless, it’s still a very good track, so I’ll give it a 8/10

    The Nomad

I don’t think the recent controversy can take much away from the song itself. Sure, the instrumental section is extremely similar to Beckett’s, but I’m not even sure it could be considered as plagiarism (or messing up) if it wasn’t for Hallowed, which is pretty undeniable. Anyway, if we judge...

    The Fallen Angel

Pretty much on the same tier as The Mercenary. Therefore, it’s a 7/10

    Dream of Mirrors

I’d like to give this song a 10, but I’ve got to agree that the intro is a bit annoying, and I turn down my volume a bit every time, so I must take it into consideration. The rest of the song is still amazing though. 9/10

    The Mercenary

Another energetic rocker with a catchy chorus. It gets a bit repetitive after a while though. 7/10
