I really love this song. Might be my favorite off of Disc 1, I'm not sure. It's a tough call between this jewel and If Eternity Should Fail for me. Janick did an outstanding job on this album with both this and Shadows of the Valley!

This song is a huge chore for me. It takes forever to get through and feels like a hodgepodge of cool ideas that Steve came up with, but didn't take enough time to really work out the song itself. I keep coming back to it, because I want to like it, but it's just not clicking with me. Honestly...

You nailed it. There's plenty of great stuff going on here, it just feels all cobbled up together and rushed to me.

I strongly disagree with that opinion personally, and I know some others agree with me on that, so your mileage may vary. Almost definitely the weakest epic on the album, imo. That said, it IS growing on me with each listen, so who knows?

I think it's growing on me too, but I'm not sure. It's definitely my least favorite epic on either disk though, right now.

I think it could go either way, really. If the song ends up being a big hit with the fans, which I think it will be, then that might give the band more motivation to play it live next year.

Yeah, I get the hesitation... but all the same, I really hope they go for it. Dave seems to think that they can and should do it, so hopefully he gets through to the rest of the band on that. My experience couldn't be any further opposite of yours. Just little 'ole me in my messy apartment...
