There are no "bad" Maiden songs, just lesser ones. Weekend Warrior is actually a good song. You can't help but sing along with it and rock out to it, and it leads perfectly into Fear of the Dark.
Don't Look in the Eyea of a Stranger and Como.. whatever on Virtual XI are probably the worst...
I doubt it's "tongue-in-cheek". It's not to mimic the Catholic church, it's to mock it / desecrate it. But believe what you want. F*** these satanists as far as I'm concerned. They can laugh it up in hell. (Of course, hopefully they will repent before it comes to that.)
Sorry, I meant at the end of Transylvania (not Remember Tomorrow) on A Real Dead One. There is a bit of Strange World added on there. It leads into Remember Tomorrow on the album. Bruce is the singer on that album. So there you go - Strange World with Bruce.
Subtle humor, Perun.
Ghost was a bad joke. Hope to never see or hear of that "band" again. Let them go worship Satan in hell, if that's what they want. I'm actually offended that Maiden inflicted that garbage on their fans.
Would rather have Lauren Harris and the Raven Age again (and I don't want Lauren Harris and...
It was good enough for Dio, and no one in metal was ever cooler or more badass than Ronnie James Dio. Didn't sound cabaret when he did it. I know it would work for a lot of older Maiden songs. But I also know it wont happen.
I agree with this assessment. I love TFF because I'm a prog-head, and TFF is Maiden's most progressive album, in my opinion (with exceptions like the title track). Starblind and Isle of Avalon both blow my mind. Such mature Maiden.
I understand why some Maiden fans don't like it so much...
It's funny that TNotB was considered Satanic, but the final lyrics of the album were praise of God.
Hopefully Hallowed will return to the setlist again someday. Rime is my #1 song, but can't complain about Hallowed being there.
Thanks for a supremely entertaining thread!
Sign of the Cross is only top 10 because of the Bruce RiR version. Sorry, Blaze's voice knocks any song down 30 spots. He's just not a good singer for Maiden.
TBoS is a little too word-heavy for me. It's worse because the muddy production makes it hard to understand what Bruce is singing. I shouldn't have to read the lyrics sheet to understand the words being sung.
I love the instrumental breaks in the song and the dueling guitars at the end, but...
