Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

I like 3-guitar Maiden much better than 2-guitar Maiden. The sound is heavier and more layered, with a lot of subtle embellishments added to the songs. Triple harmonies sound great. So I'm glad Janick is still in the band. He plays his own solos well. As for sometimes butchering Adrian's...

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

Too bad Steve Harris didn't take songwriting lessons from you. You really sound like you know what you're talking about, so much more than Steve does..

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

I want to see Bruce open for Maiden, with Roy Z and Adrian in his band. Why not? He could do it, at least for a few shows.

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

I hope not. I like how in the reunion era the songs keep getting bigger, longer, more complex, more indulgent, more progressive. We always have the 80s material. It's not going anywhere, and we can revisit it anytime we like. There's plenty of it already, and it's perfect as it is. No need...

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

I think the production on The Book of Souls: Live Chapter is great. Tony Newton should produce the next studio album.

Legacy of the Beast Tour Second Leg Rumours & Discussions

"Almost the same setlist" = "might change slightly" = "1 or 2 songs", I think.

Legacy of the Beast Tour Second Leg Rumours & Discussions

Bruce hinted that 1 or 2 songs may be switched on the 2019 tour. People are speculating about what they might be. Don’t see anything wrong with that.

Legacy of the Beast Tour Second Leg Rumours & Discussions

Would it be? Once they opened an encore set with Journeyman. Not exactly a hard-rocking opening. That said, yeah, probably Stranger in a Stranger Land is an unlikely addition. Still, I think The Evil that Men Do is the prime candidate for replacement in 2019. Maybe with Still Life? Nah...

Legacy of the Beast Tour Second Leg Rumours & Discussions

I can see Maiden dropping The Evil that Men Do for a deep cut like Stranger in a Strange Land or Caught Somewhere in Time. That would be most cool. I don't see them dropping any of the songs from the "war" and "religion" sets, as they would have to drop them for similarly themed songs. The...

Did Bruce take inspiration for the Powerslave melody from Ritchie Blackmore?

Updated the thread title to be less provocative. Also in case Bruce Bruce is reading this forum, don't want to offend him. (I've already caught hell from Robert Fripp for some comments on the current King Crimson line-up in another forum. Don't like pissing off my heroes!)

Ripped off is probably too strong. But the close similarities are definitively there. Surprised that you don’t hear it. Listen to the opening riff. It’s very close to Powerslave.

Did Bruce take inspiration for the Powerslave melody from Ritchie Blackmore?

Ritchie Blackmore kicks so much ass. Yes, he's a very weird guy. But in my opinion he's the greatest rock guitarist ever. He has incredible feel, mixing blues and classical styles. His solos always sound so.. seductive.

Did Bruce take inspiration for the Powerslave melody from Ritchie Blackmore?

When it comes to rock music, Maiden is #1. However I also love other artists, including Ritchie Blackmore, especially his Dio-era Rainbow work. I honestly never paid much attention to post-Dio Rainbow, as I considered it too poppy and commercial. I'm familiar with the big radio hits, but I...
