Is Iron Maiden the biggest metal band in the world right now?

Yes they are, because they're the fourth heart!

Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

Yep, include Thin Line and Nomad and I'd agree.

THE BOOK OF SOULS: LIVE CHAPTER - New Live Album! - November 17th

I watched it 'live' last night and thoroughly enjoyed. Sounded great to me, although seemed to tail off nearer the end. Maybe my ears. But I'm still not liking the new stuff. Enternity is fine and Speed of Light is very good but the others, not for me. Personally, I'm glad Hallowed's gone...

The Yearly Metal Project (With a Twist - See inside): 1982

I have to disagree with you on Motorhead's Bomber; I've got and luv all their studios and this is tops on a good day. Phil's drums are wondrous to behold on "Dead Men...", Eddie sings on the blusey "Step Down" and "Stone Dead Forever" is THE Motorhead track, it's play-out matching the cover art...

    Vinyl reissues

Yeah, I know but nostalgia an' all. I get a bigger thrill playing the original, however it sounds. It's still got the HMV(Norwich) price sticker - 17.99ukp. 27.99 for the new one just doesn't feel good. It'll probably happen one day, especially for TFF, but not right now.

    Vinyl reissues

X Factor was originally released on clear vinyl I believe, not picture disc. I played my picture disc of Dance of Death and it sounded better than remembered so have cancelled my orders. I may buy if the price comes down but they're too expensive right now.

    Vinyl reissues

Ooh, ooh. Definites- The Final Frontier. A favourite and my pic disc doesn't play well. Dance of Death. A special/personal record to me and, again, my pic disc is poor. Brave New World. Never had the vinyl before. Excited for this. Maybes- Matter of Life and Death. My pic disc plays quite...

    Saxon

I've got all the studios now. They've a working class charm that lets them get away with standard rockers. It's Biff's vocals that win me over. I enjoy the new stuff, but admittedly there are dry spells. Battering Ram is patchy. Sacrifice is strong overall. Call To Arms is one of their best, up...

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Such is life. Sad but true. It's like a rocket firework. The initial 5 albums are hugely exciting as the rocket rises at considerable speed(Ooh!) culminating in an agreeable explosion(Ahh!) with PS-7th. Then the fall begins and disappointment sets in, but we still have strong directional...

An exciting time that was. I was stinking up the official bb (free!) loving BNW. I've enjoyed all of the reunion stuff bar the absolute garbage that is TBOS. Life's too short. It's fun watching the jumbo on YouTube though.

    Black Metal

Their initial releases of ep's and the first two lp's were based on traditional ghost stories and the third lp was a new story of their own, again about ghoulies. But This is no Fairytale , as the title suggests, is about the horror of child abuse, told from the victims perspective. Hence the...

    Metallica

You'd never believe me. I like all of Metallica's albums. Top tier, I can happily listen to every track - Justice, Death Magnetic and Lulu. Middle group are records I used to fully enjoy but over familiarity and my ageing has taken the shine off a bit. Undeniable classics though - 1st 3 and...

    Metallica

I have a theory about the track order, but it's best left unsaid. Otherwise it could be down to lengths of songs and getting them to fit nicely on the vinyl. Dream is 6'29'', Savage 6'30'' so nothing in it there, but side D inherits lengthy Revenge(7'17'') from side C which fits better with...

    Metallica

Now I've got vinyl in hand I must say it sounds and looks great. I'm not sure where to rank it as I'm very fond of all their releases, but this is high. Much higher than I originally thought after the leak. The track order on the vinyl is better than the cd; Savage 5th on disk 1 instead of Dream...

    Metallica

I like Atlas, but all the tracks sound very generic to me. How many riffs did they have? Minus Kirk's phone obviously...mmm. It's looking like their worst effort with no new interesting stuff. (BOS pt2 ;) ) Metallicheese.

Metallica had them on the ropes once I'd heard 'Ride the Lightning' in '85 just before LAD came out. I'm not a huge fan of live albums anyway, and the lightning theme seemed a spooky coincidence in a changing of the guard sort of way. By '86 we got Puppets plus Slayer's Reign in Blood, DLR's...

I've always been welded to a record player. Late '60's - old 78's by various and my Puff the Magic Dragon lp. 70's - T.Rex, Genesis, Who, Black Sabbath, Stevie Wonder, Hawkwind, Beatles, Beach Boys, Jam, Pistols, Stranglers, Floyd, Motorhead, Saxon... 80's - Maiden, Van Halen, Priest, Zep...

    Metallica

Moth sounds like Disposable Heroes by Green Day, complete with a nasal whiney chorus like all those US bands do nowadays. Kirk's solo and rif underneath is my fave bit, but that's saying nowt.

    Metallica

I'm undecided about Kirk. Agreed on the go-to stock pattern thing but sometimes he does manage to create interesting detailing over busy riffage. More like garnish. I think that's a skill. A fancy, full-on melodic player wouldn't fit. Shortest Straw's a good un.

    Metallica

Empire's very ordinary with a bit of piano. It's certainly long but not really progressive. Just my view. Fans seem to love it, the same with Hardwired and Moth but they're leaving me cold. Not totally, but mostly.
