Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 05/10/08)

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 20/07/07) Hehe, should have mentioned that before I posted three acoustic covers :p But they're hardly anything like yours anyway. So I hope you'll let it slide ;)

Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 05/10/08)

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 20/07/07) No worries, I just figured I'd get it from the horse's mouth (if you'll pardon the metaphor), so I wouldn't get any "why make a cover-thread when there's already one on page 1"-comments :p

Classic cinema - thoughts and questions

Re: Classic cinema / current cinema - thoughts and questions I meant old or black and white, maybe I could have written it better :p Classic cinema to me includes some colour-movies. I mean, Gone With The Wind was made before Casablanca, for instance. And there have been some great B&W work...

Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 05/10/08)

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 20/07/07) Great stuff, very impressive. Your voice has a real Joe Strummer-thing going on, and I love Joe Strummer, so :p Your arrangements are probably the best I've heard, very "full", a lot of acoustic covers lose the dimensions since...

Classic cinema - thoughts and questions

Re: Classic cinema / current cinema - thoughts and questions 1. What are your favorite films? The movies I consider "perfect 10s" are: Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain John Woo's The Killer Chan Wook Park's Oldboy Zhang Yimou's Hero Sammo Hung's The Prodigal Son...

Bruce-versions of early songs? (Strange World, Purgatory, Innocent Exile etc.)

I've found most of these on the bootlegs that are in the IMC. However, I was wondering if Bruce ever sang Strange World live, and if it made it onto a bootleg? It's one of my favourite songs, and I'd love to see what Bruce does with it. Same goes for the others, but I've found that the boots...

    Förbanad! (trans: really mad!)

I've become near-paranoid about my bag whenever I'm in Gothenburg. Round neck/shoulder it goes every time, and when I'm on the train I make sure to have the strap wrapped around my hand. I have not been robbed myself, but it seems everyone around me out there has :p My paranoia isn't helped by...

    Kids! Eat your veggies now!

I've wanted to do that so many times, but in as a teacher in a modern society you're very crippled. You've got the right to take the phone, but not by force. So if you say "give me that cellphone now, young man" and the student says "ehrm... no", what are you going to do? Shout I guess, but...

    NOW WATCHING

He might be typecast, but I think that in both Waiting and Die Hard (which are the only Justin Long-movie I've seen), he does a commendable job. Guess I should check out Jeepers Creepers now :p

    New posters! Who are you?

I'm in luck. Usually the odds of a Mac user getting negative response are equally high ;) But yeah, I've been a Mac users pretty much all my life (since the age of 8 at least). Though due to certain circumstances I've occasionally been PC-only. Got a new MBP last fall, and I'm loving it...

Your age, your life, your music and your turning point?

I'm very selective, in that the vast majority of the music I hear doesn't really interest me. However, if you go past that to the bands I do like I can be very, very interested. For me it comes in waves. This fall for instance, I kept more or less exclusively to Maiden, Bruce and Tom Waits. But...

Could this happen anywhere other than Texas?

I definitely believe that it could happen elsewhere. The question is whether or not it would succeed anywhere else ;)

    New posters! Who are you?

Hehe, thanks a lot. I think it's to do more with motivation than actual skill, though. However, it's always a nice confidence booster when I see English people misspell a word :p To be fair, Mac OS' built-in spell-checker makes me look better than I really am ;)

    Now Admiring

It's not a great piece of art in the sense that it's unique. There have been many portraits made, and on a technical level I don't think this is any better than any other. However, there's just something with his eyes that gets to me. Might be because I'm such a fan, but those eyes seem to know...

    Poetry

I came in here knowing that Blake was a lost cause, so I figured I'd post The Raven. Guess not :p So how about some dub-poetry? Here's Linton Kwesi Johnson's Five Nights Of Bleeding. Madness, madness Madness tight on the heads of the rebels The bitterness erup's like a heart blas' Broke glass...

    New posters! Who are you?

Been making the rounds around here for a little while, so I figured I'd give myself a proper introduction. I'm 21 years old, native of Sweden. I'm studying to be a teacher of English and Social Studies/Civics at the University of Gothenburg. In Upper Secondary I studied at the Media Programme...

    NOW READING

Interesting essay. I've been thinking about getting into the existentialist writers ever since I read Dostoevsky's Notes From Underground. So I've had both Camus and Sartre on the "list" for quite a while. Know of any essay-collections one might check out?

    Rock in Rio

I bet to differ, there, mate. I won't argue about the guitar-cams, because as you said the cameras may very well be small and not visible from a wide-shot. Notice that I didn't bring that up as a point in the original post. However, the snorri-cam was added in post, there's no doubt about it...

The song with the highest note.

What about second  "hallowed be thy name" in Hallowed Be Thy Name from Hammersmith? That always struck me as being insanely high-pitched.
