THE CRUSADE OF EPICS: Results -> A Change Of Seasons wins!

Summarily blown away by Primordial - first time hearing them. Incredible build to several mini (and maxi) climaxes. Impressed by the melodic vocals and the ringing/chiming and harmonic qualities of the guitar. A much more enjoyable listen than any DT song from 6DOiT that isn't named "Blind...

THE CRUSADE OF EPICS: Results -> A Change Of Seasons wins!

Second Life Syndrome is Riverside's weakest album that isn't named Wasteland, IMHO. The vocal issues you've mentioned are corrected - and set to soar - on their next 3 10/10 albums (Rapid Eye Movement, Anno Domini High Definition, Memories in My Head). SLS was their first album with keys/synth...

    The Parchment

Sounds a bit fast to these ears.

    The Future Past tour 2023

Count me in as one who would fecking love to see/hear "The Prisoner" live. It stretches out just a bit more than either RTTH or TNOTB (title track) do, and thus will give Bruce's voice a decent rest in its mid/solo section, with a great, catchy and memorable chorus that wouldn't appear to be...

Forgive my ignorance, but what does "FOI" stand for?

    Hell On Earth

In some ways I can see this. the theme of Hell on Earth calls to mind modern times, and speaks to me (personally) of the division and strife - broken friendships and strife between my fellow countrymen - of the modern age/times we live in. By contrast/comparison, the Title Track (Senjutsu)...

    The Future Past tour 2023

Interesting connection between some of the keys and tones in SIASL and Rush's Subdivisions. Signals and Somewhere in Time are both in my top 10 albums of all time by any artist, in my collection of nearly 1,000 shiny little silver disks.

    The Future Past tour 2023

Which fans are you referring to? Is the song an example of worshipping a historical figure, or is it merely a character study with poetic lyrics and emotional guitar and vocal melodies?

    The Future Past tour 2023

TDH has grown like wildfire on me. Bruce's best vocals on the album, fantastic guitar solos. I used to think TDH was a slightly inferior cousin to Out of the Shadows and Coming Home, but now I feel it Is a better song than both hands down.

San Diego 1998, The Best Blaze performance?

Somewhat sad in that Blaze's vocals on the Bruce-era tracks was *improving* by 1998. But the sands of time for him were running low ...

San Diego 1998, The Best Blaze performance?

our show was outdoors, but nevertheless the thick hang of SweetLeaf smoke did have its effects on me by mid-way through the show. I can only imagine what havoc the thick hanging and lingering smoke wreaked on the boys at the indoor California shows. I've seen my birth state go from nearly...

San Diego 1998, The Best Blaze performance?

I lived in San Diego for several years. Good (larger) city, largely suburban but with a little bit of the urban experience. Metallica's San Diego show on the Live Sh*t Binge and Purge boxed set is supposed to be great as well. I recently saw an Iron Maiden show in San Diego and it was...

Senjutsu's album review (song by song and overall)

That would depend on your definition of "piledriving riffs" and "variations in vocal pitch/cadence".

Please don't take offense, but if you're posting sincerely than you're opting not to hear.

What isolated track of any Maiden song would interest you the most?

What an absolute BEAST of a drum track. No wonder CSiT has been a top-10 IM song for me since practically the first time I heard it. Nicko goes from a swing/jazz feel in the intro to a kinda-sorta and vaguely "speed/thrash" metal feel (during the fast bits), but all the while manages to never...

Senjutsu's album review (song by song and overall)

Those piledriving and greasy guitar riffs aren't connecting with you yet; neither Bruce's variations and wordplay/cadence shifts as he draws out and holds his notes for certain sections of Lost In A Lost World's verses? I used to like the band Tool quite a bit - but now I find them to be rather...

Senjutsu's album review (song by song and overall)

Over 3 months on, I am still enamored with Lost in a Lost World - those piledriving riffs never get old, and the intro+chorus+outro melodies are at once haunting and soothing. The Time Machine has grown to a 10/10 -- perhaps the most spirited playing on the entire album. Recalls Dance of Death...

What isolated track of any Maiden song would interest you the most?

Isle of Avalon and The Parchment. Lots of layers in both of those tunes, would be great to hear what's going on beneath that which is most apparent to our ears.

    Childhood's End

My favorite song on the Fear Of The Dark album, and it has been for quite some time now. Childhood's End has never been less than a 9/10 since I first heard it after "unboxing" the FoTD CD way back then, and its been a perfect 10/10 likely since my 3rd-4th playback - about which time this song...

    The Future Past tour 2023

"Running Free" would be the opposite of a "Concert Wonder" It's always sounded so much heavier in its original studio IM self-titled debut album glory.
