Is Iron Maiden the biggest metal band in the world right now?

Never in my entire life full of rock-n-roll have I regarded Metallica, Guns and Rammstein rock'n'roll bands. Not everything that sounds heavy/hard is rock'n'roll in fact. They are pop music for me. All of them.

Last year he was skinny, and now.... He used to bash Churchill for being fat, so I hope he'll do some sports to regain his perfect shape and perfect belly :clap:

    Russian Iron Maiden

Here in Russia we've got a heavy metal band founded in about 1985 and called "Aria". It is widely known here that they tried to imitate Maiden as much as they can (though I personally think that the vocalist - Kipelov - tries to sing like Dio, not Bruce) and even 'stole' some of the songs -...

I first noticed it when he got undressed during their last gig. And then there came his book promotion tours, and I started noticing this belly everywhere! Here for instance he's getting FAT!!!

He gave so many promises... hope he'll keep them. A promise for a new solo album and EOTC played with an orchestra... If only I could have that, I'll die happy, lol:D My secret dream is also to have him make an album with Jethro Tull, but let this remain my dream  Another dream of mine...

The Official Book of Souls Tour 2017 Thread (Warning: Spoilers Within)

Summing everything up... what do you all think of Bruce's voice during this tour? I personally think he sounds much better than last year. I visited a gig in Oberhausen and was very much impressed (though in video the band sounds not as great as live, somehow...) But many youtube commentators...

Is Iron Maiden the biggest metal band in the world right now?

It's all about radio hits: Metallica have them, Maiden - don't. I've known Maiden since I was 10 yrs old, but when I started listening to them on a regular basis, I found out that I didn't know any of their 'hits'. I haven't heard not a single song of theirs before. While I have never listened...

Is Iron Maiden the biggest metal band in the world right now?

I don't like them onstage. They act just like - sorry to say - Justin Bieber or any other pop star. That's not my cup of tea. I don't like unsubstantiated showing off.

Only for Bruce? Why not for JP or Roy? Doesn't that sound strange to you? IMHO, Roy helped Bruce with the orchestration and sound, but I'm not sure he wrote melodies or lyrics. Songs like Powerslave, Revelations, etc prove that, whereas we know nothing about Roy's songs written solely by him...

    Bruce Dickinson

It just seems to me that such people in general don't like Bruce. They come to any thread and start talking about how great DiAnno or Blaze are, greater than Bruce. How great Roy is, and Bruce is nothing compared to Roy. How great Samson were, and Bruce being a jerk to leave them or not speak...

Forostar, Bruce wrote Empire of the Clouds. On his own. Beat this please. What did Roy write on his own that will make history?

    Bruce Dickinson

We got you. If you WANT and CHOOSE to think that it was Roy who made the whole thing, it's up to you. But other people think differently.

But if we compare Rob's and Bruce's solo stuff, there's simply NO comparison. So the conclusion is???? Bruce is the governing factor, not Roy. Otherwise Rob's albums would be as gold as Bruces, and they are not - same old JP's stuff with Roy's guitar and sound, and that's it. And we know many...

It's just your view. Mine is different. If Roy were a great musician and composer, we'd know something about him not related to Bruce or whoever else. It's just like with the Beatles breakup - only after they broke up the world came to know who of the four could compose music and who couldn't.

Classic albums and famous bands you don't like

Ronnie James Dio. I tried so hard to love him and his voice as he's considered to be one of the best rock voices (if not THE best), but I can't. I listened to all of his albums, but they only made my head and ears ache. I don't know what is wrong with me, Dio sounds too monotonous for me - it's...
