Steve is so clear, but I wonder if they actually have anything written on the next album. If they have clear plans, they may record some of it by the end of this year.

As the tour has been so much appreciated, I believe they will not touch the setlist for some time. Only after the world tour we will see if there is a LOTB 2 or not. I know it sounds selfish to 'the rest of the world', but I would love to see them doing the new album ASAP. o_O

We already have it, but BG is not Iron Maiden. LOTR is in no way exhaustible with the musical scope of Blind Guardian. The equivalent of this claim would be to say, "Howard Shore's compositions are not original because BG and many others did some things on LOTR before". I disagree. Of course...

It has been a very successful tour, but most importantly for the long run, our heroes have so far been quite healthy. I hope I can catch up with them somewhere in America next year (the academic tries to find a conference that matches the band's schedule :p).

I think what I call historical baggage is a bit different than what you call "classic Maiden elements". Here, saying history, I include AMOLAD, BNW or DOD. TRATB is mostly like a recollection of some sounds in these albums to me (I mean, look at Nicko's drum partitions, look at the TWM-like chorus).
