I'm pretty open to whatever the band do. They are a living breathing band now in their 45th year. Stylistically speaking, im not looking for any particular style or approach. Just quality. If the album can match up to BNW and AMOLAD but still be its own thing, ill be a very happy man. Whatever...
I'm glad to hear from Adrian...that he came prepared with demos and loads of ideas. I know that Harris, Gers and Bruce did too. They sometimes make it sound like they go into the studio with Nothing and the album is whatever 'comes out' in the couple of weeks in the studio.
Great analysis here. A flawed but unique album. Really got into it back in 95. Hasn't stuck too well over the years, and would pay serious money to have Sign of the Cross studio recorded with Bruce, with the production and strength of Brave New World. Well at least we have the Rock in Rio...
Great to hear. I'm hoping Senjutsu is up there with BNW and AMOLAD. Others are all very good, but a few average moments bogs them down a bit. Oh hope of hopes
Shirley's to do list from the video. Darkest hour....something something. Hell on Earth..Jan Comp Prelude? Jan has to finish the prelude/intro or Shirley has to add compression on the prelude/interlude
I get your point, but for me personally I've never been able to get into the guitar technicians like Vai and Malmsteen...verging on unlistenable for me. I think Satriani is the best of them....he's got some seriously melodic work. The Extremist album is great stuff. The track 'war' has a great...
I've always hoped for one myself, but Harris seems to have gone down a lyric/story heavy route then earlier days. I've loved some of the recent instrumentals by Ghost (Genesis and Miasma, check those tracks out). Maiden have always been keen to explore longer and more complex instrumental...
although 'The Lonely Shepard' by Gheorghe Zamfir from Kill Bill soundtrack is a stunning piece of music....amazing blend of
East and West. Anyways, like someone said here...it's likely to be an ambient thing at the beginning of Senjutsu track....then into Maiden mode with a few nods to Asia in...
That's a good point. Japanese style melodies may not translate so well to guitar. What might be cool though is if Nicko got a little experimental with a Kodo style drum?
