I personally agree with the last point: as the history books begin to be written on Maiden’s touring career, I’d place the Legacy of the Beast 2018-19 stage show as the band’s best ever. since it cannot be beaten, good they went down an entirely different route this year.

A heck of a lot depends on them having the good sense to doing exactly this. And also using 2026 for some work on album 18, assuming Harris has the inspiration and focus for it. If this tour drags to 2027 as their only activity I'd be gutted. This is probably the first major Maiden activity...

Great to hear. This is the most 'metallica' that Maiden have gotten in terms of aiming more obviuosly for mass appeal and crowd pleasing in stadiums / festivals / arenas. Doing what the casuals would casually expect and enjoy. Not a bad thing, but a different thing..

I agree with that. I also disagree with Maiden's explanation that the stage show production blocks song rotation. Theres not reason not to leave one or two slots lighter on stage effects and open for rotation.

Its this kind of thinking that has been missing in Maiden's operation forever. Ever since they ended up with a gargantuan back catalogue and impossible setlist choices. Even one or two rotational slots would change a lot. As you write, equivalents could have been swapping one hit for another...

Agreed, and these are (for me) the highlights to look forward to. Shame they played it too safe and too repetitively at the end though.

According to the poor sound of a livestream, I thought Simon made Maiden sound more metal and modern. Not to criticise Nicko, but Simon could give them a really good new edge at this late stage.

It was an excellent set, but it ended with a squib. So all that awesome energy from the start and middle kind of drops.... That's how I feel. Finishing the set with the same song 3 out of 4 tours in a row just sucks.
