1. That Hell song is hilarious. Easy pick. Bonus points for not being SOAD.
2. Megadeth easily. Sepultura is not for me.
3. Ugh. Helloween is far less generic, but I can’t stand the vocals.
4. LOLOLOLOL
5. I hate to vote against Dio, but this track is far from his strongest, while Tornado is one...
Metallica and Slayer over Ozzy and the always overrated Motörhead. Sixth match was tough because I love The Siren’s uniqueness but I couldn’t vote against a Dio classic (even if Dio himself hated it).
Fourth match was a painful 15 minutes. Threw @Magnus a bone because parts of his pick reminded...
Easiest votes ever for Opeth, Armored Saint, Dream Theater (even though this one isn’t metal), and Myrath.
I don’t care whatsoever about the other matches so I picked the least bad options.
Also if I never hear another Priest song again I’d be perfectly fine with that.
I loved on the DT12 tour when they played the entire second half of Awake. I was blown away, as I much prefer it to the first half.
As for Octavarium, I don’t dislike it because it’s pop. Yeah, I prefer their proggy metallic side, but they’ve had great pop songs in the past. But on Octavarium...
I have to disagree. Six Degrees (especially the first five songs) was excellent, but Train of Thought is a personal favorite of mine. Octavarium is in their bottom three for me, while SC and BC&SL were both average. Then came ADTOE and the S/T, which I love. Astonishing is horrible, and the last...
I think the second half of the song is very good (starting with the carnival keyboards and overall upbeat groove), but those first ten or so minutes lose me. The first four are just filler keyboard sounds, and the rest is just so morose. Myung’s bass is really the only standout in that first...
Breaking the Law is one of the few Priest songs in the game that deserves to be here. Metal Gods is not.
Octavarium is one of Dream Theater’s most overrated songs and also from one of their worst albums, but it’s the clear winner here.
Ghost may be pop metal, but Square Hammer is insanely...
Lololololololol Symphony X.
These two Megatallica tracks might be the toughest match I’ve seen. They’re both 10/10s for their respective bands, but Countdown has cooler music.
Oooh ah ah ah ah! Priest lol.
Song is okay. Heavy interlude was cool. Still can’t help but feel that the band’s sound hasn’t changed much over their last four or five albums, though; still just an orchestra with a band buried underneath it.
The video is exactly what I expected; another biology lesson with enough...
Actually, most of their old stuff bores me to tears (Painkiller excluded). I’ve never understood what’s so special about them. At least their last two albums have some punch to them.
Easily my favorite part of the song. I love the way each layer is added in its own meter, doing its own thing but somehow sounding great together. Then when the rhythm section enters it just all gels.
But I also love the chorus, as simple as it is. I actually prefer it to the sequel’s chorus.
1. Kamelot duh
2. Pantera duh
3. Deep Purp
5. Megadeth duh
6. Steppenwolf duh
4. This is the only one that warrants discussion, as they’re the best songs I’ve heard by either band. AC/DC gets points because Hell’s Bells is quite different from their typical bluesy riff style, but I simply like...
