  1. Detective Beauregard

It’s honestly one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard by them. Complete bottom of the barrel, yet they released it as a single.

    Now Playing (Video Games)

About to start wrapping up STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl after playing it on and off for about a month. Solid game, but there’s been some bugs. My first time playing the series, too. After that I’m on to finish up FFVII Remake and play through Rebirth. As a relatively new PS5 owner I also...

Glad you liked it! I’ve never seen them disappoint. Really cool to see they played A Rite of Passage; I hope we get that in Chicago instead of Panic Attack (Octavarium is an album I don’t care much for outside of the title track).

I’ll be honest: I didn’t even know they had a bass player. With two 8-strings what’s the point? Haken’s bassist does some cool stuff, though, and they often have two 8’s chugging away. Going back to what @Mosh said (and I know he was joking), could you imagine Seventh Wonder without bass? Or...

    Not cool dude!
  6. Detective Beauregard

Honestly, this wouldn’t surprise me. You know Petrucci would be like “ooh cool, I’ll take a free guitar to mess around with. Just one song? No problem.” I love Haken, and they make excellent use of 8-strings. As a bass player I’m not a fan of them, though. Tuning any lower than a full step...
  7. Detective Beauregard

    Dream Theater

Singers are like cars; once they start having issues, it’s time for them to be replaced. I’m kidding. I just really don’t like LaBrie’s voice. I totally forgot about that 8-string song on the previous album. I don’t think there’s any 8-strings on Parasomnia, though. Edit: I take that back...

This isn’t Trump; this is “Buddy” Carter. It’s funny. It’s a horrible name and it will never pass. Lighten up brah.
  9. Detective Beauregard

    Dream Theater

You don’t mean that, muh brutha. I’d prefer him completely off the bus and not on tour, instead being replaced with Tommy Karevik. They do not. Verses and choruses are the universal signs to go pee at a DT concert. I filter a lot of the vocals out, but not because they’re vocals; it’s...

Somewhere there’s an eagle flying high. ‘Murica!
  11. Detective Beauregard

    Dream Theater

Much like Answering the Call, Midnight Messiah is the clear immediate earworm of this album. I’ve listened to the whole thing a few times now and it’s a solid album, but something’s missing. I find the lack of catchy choruses (outside of Night Terror and the “endless night” tail of Shadow Man)...

Gotta be Metropolis pt. 3: The First Dancing Turtle.

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

I like it slightly better than Escape, but otherwise, samesies. My take on Ride the Lightning is 47832516.

    USA Politics

I’ll say this: As much as I disagree with the concept, blaming DEI right off the bat for this crash before the facts can be revealed is a rare bad move on Trump’s part. Lol, ok this is funny.

I haven’t forgotten about this; just been very busy. Plan to watch it soon.
  16. Detective Beauregard

    Dream Theater

The verses and chorus have a Metallica vibe. Good tune overall, and my favorite of the three released thus far.
  17. Detective Beauregard

    USA Politics

A rare misfire on his part. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t worship at the altar of Trump; he is human like all of us. If those Blackwater guys truly opened fire on civilians unprovoked, then I believe they should be sentenced to death. This is quite different, as there is no premeditation...

Continued from the Iced Earth thread… Ok that’s funny! But it wouldn’t if those found guilty of murder were executed no more than one year after being found guilty. One thing done right, thousands done wrong. I hope the crooked old ass enjoys his remaining years lounging around on the...
  19. Detective Beauregard

    Iced Earth

Dehumanizing language when referring to murderers is acceptable. But even I wouldn’t call the Bidenites and Kamalacrats garbage; they’re just tragically misinformed. There’s enough hate in the world. :) If murderers were executed swiftly (read: less than one year), costs could be cut significantly.
