Red State. Kevin Smith's latest movie is an assault on the extreme right wing bible bashing religious freaks. It has a lot of horror, thriller and comedy elements that don't quite mesh together but it is never boring and, at times packs a serious punch. 7/10.
Cool, must look out for that.
Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil. Hilarious spin on the tried, tested and mostly failed "slasher in the woods" formula. Filled with great gags, quality lines and most importantly charm. Really funny performances from the two leads. 4/5.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Great performances from a quality cast. The movie itself was a bit too sedate for me. That said, if Gary Oldman's restrained, yet obviously tortured, performance doesn't earn him an Oscar I will cut someone! 3/5.
Capitalism: A Love Story. Michael Moore's best documentary by far. He himself may not be the voice of reason, but he gives a voice to genuine victims and several experts who saw the shit storm coming. Couple of glaring errors, a priest talking about how "propaganda is bad" was the biggest one...
Sith was poison. I was gobsmacked at how bad the writing was. I felt sorry for the actors having to say such dross to each other. Also: http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/
Jurassic Park got a cinema re-release yesterday and I ran out to see it, still amazing 4/5.
I cancelled my pre-order of the blu rays when I saw the new changes. it's infuriating at this point. I don't mind that Lucas keeps making changes, what I do mind is he will not release the original trilogy in its original form on blu ray for all of us to enjoy. The dvds have them as an extra a...
TrollHunter. Norwegian version of the Blair Witch Project. Some decent scares, couple of good jokes and the Trolls looked great. If you're not a fan of "shakey-cam" though, this won't convert you. I enjoyed it well enough though. 3/5.
 I can hear that. What bothers me is when people say "it's a copy" like it's somehow contrived. Saw an interview recently where Dave Mustaine claims he was accused of stealing the Wasted Years riff for Washington is Next which is of course total nonsense.
Agree with all this. I still went to see the band live and bought everything they put out despite not liking Blaze's voice. I still enjoyed listening to a lot of the music on TXF. And I always defended them publicly even though privately I wanted Bruce back.
It holds up well because the original, whilst a fun watch, was never a classic. Neither is this but it is a total blast. Everyone seems to be really enjoying themselves on screen and it's infectious.
Everything Must Go. Will Ferrell showing once again what a good actor he is. Loses his job...
All this talk of these two albums made me dig them out again and I gave them a good listen. TXF has some great songs and Blaze's song writing is very strong, I just can't say the same about his vocals though. He has the "feel" on many of the songs but the range to truly put the songs over isn't...
