Capitals get Vokoun for 1 year, $1.5 million. There are no words to express how great a deal that is for Washington. An utter steal. Best goalie of the past 5 years, and they get him for a quarter of Bryzgalov, and for eight years less.

wut By that logic, Ontario and Alberta shouldn't have more than one team each.  Let's pack Ottawa off to Halifax, nevermind if there's demand or not. Teams should be located where they are financially viable.  No other factors should take priority.

I think something like this would be good: Division #1: Montreal Ottawa Toronto Detroit Buffalo Minnesota Chicago Winnipeg Division #2: Boston NYR NYI New Jersey Pittsburgh Philadelphia Washington Division #3: Columbus Carolina Nashville Florida Tampa Bay Dallas Colorado Division #4...

My ideal, short of a 32 team league: Abolish conferences.  4 divisions, named after famous builders in hockey.  Two of 8 teams, two of 7 teams.  Each 8-team division is paired with a 7-team division, based on geography (in this sense, the conferences would remain in spirit).  Top four in each...

What are people's thoughts of proposed re-alignment schemes?  I for one would love the return of divisional playoffs.

Someone gave Fleury a 1st place Hart vote  Somehow he managed to finish 8th in Vezina voting and 9th in Hart voting.  Damn homers.

Hasek and Roy have been just as consistent as Brodeur.  Brodeur has had two career "peaks"; 1995-1998 and 2006-2008.  He's played poorly in some years, better in others.  No goaltender plays the same every year.  Brodeur's consistency has been partly that he's managed to more or less avoid...

And Hasek was dominant for over 20  :innocent: I don't think Hedberg necessarily played better than Brodeur.  Brodeur took the majority of the games in the awful early going, when the Devils were completely disorganized.  Hedberg played most of his games under Lemaire, when the team was in sync...

I don't think Brodeur played that much more poorly this year than last.  The difference was the team in front of him.  The Devils played absolutely atrocious defence for the first half; by the time they were whipped into shape, it was too late.

Sarcasm?  But yes, you're correct.  Of note: Weekes has the highest save percentage of the three, certainly not what one might expect.  Clemmensen also had a better save percentage than Brodeur.  Thirdly, the SA/G might show a bit of the effect Brodeur has with his puckhandling; he faced 0.4 and...

Hmm.  5-8 shots seems incredibly high.  If we go back to 2009-10, NJ faced the second least shots total, allowing 27.0/game.  The worst team was Florida, allowing 34.1/game.  Even if Brodeur only prevented 5 shots each game, that would put New Jersey in the bottom 6 in terms of shots allowed.  I...

I don't blame Brodeur for the loss in 2010.  I don't think his play has been the reason the Devils haven't won it all since 2003.  The Devils for the 5 years prior to the lockout were powerhouses, offensively and defensively.  A team like that is bound to win.   Also, Roy's save percentage in...

I don't criticize Brodeur for the Olympics.  He had a bad game, and in a tournament like that that's all it takes to lose your job if you're a goaltender.  It's not like Luongo played excellent.  Hell, I he best goaltending performance by a Canadian at a recent Olympics, in my opinion, didn't...

I would just like to point out that both Sedins produced more in their Finals appearance than Crosby did when he won the Cup. And that Luongo's Finals wasn't near as bad as Brodeur's in 2001. I would like to take this moment to remind people about how the sports media shapes people's...

Brodeur didn't deserve it in '03.  Well, he deserved it, but Gigeuere deserved it more. The biggest snub in recent history was Niewendyk over Hasek in '99.
