Civil War I found smooth and nice, and very cheesy. Ironsword was a good try, but they didn't beat Civil War in cheesiness.
The beginning of Solitary Sabled was a bit at odds with the subject of the song, in my opinion. Lacked the mysterious sound needed, but that was added at the end of the...
Whew, fortunately Cornfed Hick and LC clarified the matter. I was a bit worried and confused there for a moment! ;) (I'd be happy if someone I dated listened to Haken/Rush/Blind Guardian.)
Yeah, that's what I've been thinking! Not the a cappella Christmas Carols, but singing in front of an audience. Now that I'm no longer teaching, I need not worry about my voice so much. Maybe someday some amateur band is looking for a singer... :) not a heavy metal band though, unfortunately my...
Listened to the beginning part of Tame again, and I really like the sound in James LaBrie's voice, and I think he sings well. But it's true he seems to struggle with the high notes, so now I understand that criticism too.
You mentioned the Nirvana song on another thread? I've always dreamed of singing with a band, but it hasn't come true yet. :) But I was fortunate enough to be allowed to sing with a microphone a few years back. That was so sweet. (no audience though)

I'm guessing Haken isn't the only band to affect a person's future so. Maybe there should be warnings on album covers, Youtube videos etc. so people could take it into account.
Dream Theater: It's been years since I've listened to To Tame a Land. It may have the worst Maiden lyrics in my opinion. The lyrics were the same here, but what a very nice version musically! I liked it a lot!
Tyr: Not bad at all, but D.Theater just was better.
Lord Belial: Cool band name, and...
Don't know about getting laid, but I was thinking: if a guy listened to a certain band, would it stop me from dating him? At first I thought Rammstein, then remembered I was together with someone that listened to them... :p and it isn't that bad, and I don't think there have been bands like that...
Black Sabbath: Ok, but nothing special.
Skyclad: All right, but maybe not 100% me.
Haken 1: The a cappella parts sounded like something you can hear in Finland in Christmastime. Very interesting music, although I'm not sure if I'd put this on my playlist.
Opeth: Okay musically, but the songs...
