Brave New World Vs. Piece Of Mind

BNW is my favorite album and it's all killer, no filler. POM has songs like Sun And Steel and Quest For Fire, which I still like and enjoy, but are weaker and compared to the other songs and 80's as a whole. Both albums are full of classics.

Fear Of The Dark Vs. The Book Of Souls

TBOS is a better album as a whole, no doubt, I think it only has 1 weak song (everything else is great Reunion Maiden, more or less), but I just love FOTD. Yes there are 3-4 weak songs for Maiden (Apparition, Weekend Warrior, Key... Chains and Fugitive could have been stronger), but I still...

No Prayer For The Dying Vs. The Final Frontier

TFF is much more interesting, filled with impactful music (not only the epics) and better choruses. I may not like some decisions in it (length, solos, parts), and NPFTD is easier and more fun to listen to, but still. I enjoy both in different ways. NPFTD could have been stronger, especially...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Yeah, and apparently (mentioned in a comment) he said the same thing in this new interview about his upcoming big solo show in Brazil. Can someone translate the entire excerpt? https://www.instagram.com/ironmaiden.brasil/reel/DMBzfMfO73A/

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Very nice idea with the Eddies and the historic place. The German one was with the most simplistic design. It's like it took inspiration from the tour poster:

What are the top 5 worst Maiden songs?

I dig everything about Weekend Warrior except the acoustic guitar/pre-chorus, and Maiden did better AC/DC-style songs in the 90's, but it's easy to see why the majority of the fans don't like it. It doesn't sound like Maiden at all. But the instrumental section is pure gold! ^Different...

    The gamble that paid off

I agree that Maiden didn't go back to their classic style for their Reunion album and instead continue to develop their new and preferred approach since the mid-90's - and BNW is one of the top popular and successful (if not the most) Reunion albums in metal. But by the late 90's, heavy metal...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Yeah, for Wasted Years too. Most likely double bass. He hits hard and still the cymbals are weak in the mix..? Btw, I saw some comments on YouTube that some songs sound really slow and I'm not sure if Simon is to blame. They are playing the studio tempos, but that's not Fear Of The Dark's studio...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

I wouldn't say many. I guess: Murders, Killers, Phantom(not sure), Rime, Seventh Son and Aces. The big classics will return for sure. This. It wasn't that unlikely for us to expect 1-2 more big surprises, right. Like on every tour. I think the show might not be that great for some fans...

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

Good points. Although it could be worse... cough... Also, Bruce's latest solo album proved this for the production and takes. They just don't put that much effort anymore, which is sad considering their legacy. And I have to say, Kevin's produced live albums of the band sound great, with much...

Poll: Dance of Death vs. Hell on Earth?

Didn't Bruce say in the DOTR documentary that he thought Steve was probably inspired for Dance Of Death by Number Of The Beast. The solos are definitely better in their own way, and the whole instrumental section is more lively and classic for the band. I usually find Maiden's solos for the...

Was the album "Brave New World" like "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" part II?

Now that you bring it up, despite being different albums, I do think BNW (style, approach) could have been a continuation to say of SSOASS - but only with 3 guitars. And despite the guitar work being more adventurous in '88. It's ofc the VXI-DOD sound of the band (TXF is different, AMOLAD is its...

Poll: Which style of Judas Priest do you prefer?

The ''Painkiller style'' works for them the best. Maiden can afford to take different approaches since the Reunion, that's the legacy they're building. And I don't think the longer songs are trying to rewrite Fear. As for Scott Travis' drumming, that's just his style. Well said.

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

And still the rhythm guitar sounds more upfront than on the last few albums. Although in TFF is nice. The ''live in the studio'' approach is really odd, not gonna lie. How an album can have songs that sound different, that's just wow... some are less muddy than the others. Writing On The Wall...

What are the top 5 worst Maiden songs?

This is actually not an easy question. Worst or weakest for me: The Apparition Hooks In You Invaders (only because of the chorus) others: Another Life, Innocent Exile, Prodigal Son, Public Enema Number One, Age Of Innocence... not sure though.

Songs which you feel can fit into other albums

Agreed. SJ and let's call them ''ancient melodies'' is a recognizable feature. Yeah, Stratego and Days Of Future Past can sound both classic and modern Maiden.

The best five short rockers Maiden have done since 1990?

Easy for me: Be Quick Or Be Dead/Judas Be My Guide Futureal The Wicker Man Rainmaker Stratego edit: next in line is Different World.

Songs which you feel can fit into other albums

Ok, let's see: Stratego - DOD Lost In A Lost World - TXF Death Of The Celts - VXI Days Of Future Past - TBOS Speed Of Light - TFF The Great Unknown - AMOLAD Shadow Of The Valley - AMOLAD El Dorado - TBOS Mother Of Mercy - AMOLAD Coming Home - AMOLAD The Alchemist - DOD When The Wild Wind Blows...

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

The lack of power in the mix (since 2006) and the raw sound of the guitars/riffs. Even the drums, but they have their charm. Maybe with 3 guitars is different and tricky.

Poll: Which style of Judas Priest do you prefer?

I think it's just a sign of the times, and it's normal and not bad. They became more metal in 1984. Like Maiden's early style.
