It's still great, mind you, but the band was burnt-out and it is overall less inspired, even if the visual and the sound cover it up.
It goes much earlier. The first time it appeared live was during the Seventh Tour of a Seventh Tour (1988) but apparently, they "met" one year earlier:
The Beatles' self-titled album (or White Album) comes to mind. Come on: "Bungalow Bill"?, "Happiness is a Warm Gun"?, "Wild Honey Pie", "Why Don't We Do It in the Road", not to mention "Revolution 9"? :facepalm: I think they are really detrimental to the gems that also appear on this album.
