So, it's not a matter of living in the past and routinely not liking new things. It is about having the opinion that Iron Maiden, SPECIFICALLY, generally released better music in the past. Is it allowed?
Yes, but it's not like that for me. This year saw some pretty brilliant releases. Like Nightwish and BG, those were both excellent albums. Don't confuse Maiden's inability to live up to their past glory with other band's ability to make great albums.
Depends on what you think of St.Anger. Even that album has people who claim to think it's Metallica's best. I don't really find that any stranger than people thinking AMOLAD is Maiden's best...
Horrible, if it's true. But it is exactly what I've feared and predicted, since reading that first official statement on how they approached this album. Seems like a severe case of the "because we can"-syndrome. No young band struggling for fame would approach an album with such a carefree...
Maybe that's what happens when you enter the studio without much fininished material and a producer who doesn't have the authority to point them in a proper direction. I haven't heard it yet, but judging from some information here I'm afraid I'll come to think the album should have been named...
Sounds just about like every other album, then. They all have people for and against them. Perhaps some expected this new one would be different? Blame the hype...
Actually not quite true... a lot of fans learned to appreciate it over time, and I have quite a few friends who aren't even that much into Maiden that think TXF was one of their most ineresting albums, but hey, you're not gonna change your opinion of course.... just saying that it's far from...
