Defenders of the Faith should have been #3, because it has by far the worst song of the last three (Eat Me Alive). Painkiller is a fantastic album (even the bonus track is incredible) and I hope it's #1.

Of the really popular 80s songs, it's by far the one that sounds most similar to Maiden so I'm a bit baffled by this gatekeeping too.

I agree with this to a degree, especially in the first half of the album, but the second half is much more adventurous.

Love Bites is a fantastic song. Eat Me Alive is a complete embarrassment, for me the biggest sonic turd the band has squeezed out over their entire career. I'm astounded that you've put them on par.

I'm really liking the new album so far. It has a lot of range, and goes to some places I wouldn't expect - particularly on Gods In Decay and Give It Up Or Give It All, which are early picks for my favourite songs here. Seeking Vengeance is probably my least favourite track, though I don't mind...

I agree on the remaining top three. For me the order goes: 1 - Painkiller 2 - Screaming for Vengeance 3 - Defenders of the Faith

A little late in replying to this but I do feel obligated to point out the irony in you taking this stance in this particular matchup given that: a) I have not once dismissed a band because it's "not metal"; b) I voted against my own nomination here in favour of the classic band. :p

Of course! The Spirit Carries On is my favourite DT song (and it's not particularly close) but Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the greatest songs of all time (regardless of genre) and I'm not crazy enough to vote against it. :p

I definitely had to increase my cadence at one point - though for me it was bringing it up from something that was very low (in the 150s) to somewhere in the 160s. I was trying to hit 180 cadence because that's what the internet had told me to do; in reality I trained a bit using 180bpm music...

A more general running query: what music do we all listen to? I tend to do mostly older rock / metal and am going through the process of making a longer playlist for eventual longer races.

Armed and Dangerous, but I don't have strong feelings about it either way. No One Like You is a classic, one of Scorpions' best and my favourite song in the entire round. Engel is fine but I like Alice Cooper a lot and I especially like Welcome To My Nightmare. Black Dog, but neither of these...

I'd argue The Wicker Man probably qualifies here.
