Total speculation until we know what songs he is going to play live.
Didn't stop Maiden back in the day before they had a second guitarist..... Steve used to do the answering solo on bass.
Can the keyboardist also play guitar? Fairly common in alot of bands (such as UFO).
British Lion must be due a third album. They have played one new song in their recent gigs. Wasteland, maybe they will try out more new material on the upcoming tour.
Samson also only had one guitar I think?
So Bruce had 2 guitars throughout his Maiden tenure and what 2-3 of his solo albums.
Since rejoining Maiden, he has had three guitarists in the band.
I guess he likes to mix it up a bit. He hardly wants to produce exactly the same sound as Maiden...
Not entirely unprecedented. I hope Bruce will break out his Gibson for a couple of dual harmonies at least.
As they have a full time keyboardist I think it was always on the cards.
Saw a terrific young band, tailgunner, open for KKs Priest at the gig in August (went mainly as I had never seen PaulDianno live before)- part of "the new wave of traditional heavy metal" which was a new one to me. Album is worth a listen.
From Richie last December:
Are there future plans for Smith/Kotzen?
While I’m home, I’ll start work on ideas for the next Smith/Kotzen record. Adrian has already sent me a bunch. At some point when Maiden’s done touring, Adrian and I will get together and hopefully have enough for a new album.
