General fan vibe during the Blaze days

Symbolic is an experience though. Every single song just flows right into the next, and they're so different yet so cohesive. I like TSOP, maybe I just find Symbolic somewhat 'prettier' and easier to listen to, rather than something you'd have to be in the mood for. (Sorry I can't add any...

    Wasted Years

One of the first songs I ever heard by them, also among their most accessible ones. The lyrics could be the weakest part, but I still think they're pretty emotional, or maybe I think that because the first time I heard it I was already crying by the third minute and throughout the solo because...

    Deja Vu

The lyrics scream "filler" but everything else shows exactly the opposite. Was going to rate it 9, then remembered that ATG is better still having not the best lyrics. 8/10

    NOW READING

I'm intrigued about that near-ending now, and also that comment on impact. I think I'm gonna get myself to finish it in the next couple days.

    NOW READING

I do like how the dialogue makes no sense and is repetitive, but I think this part: See, it's all stylistic devices that are intended to reveal how soldiers feel when thrown in with thousands of other men they're supposed to share what's left of their lives. At the same time, the book introduces...

    NOW READING

Has anyone read Catch-22 without wanting to read other stuff in between? I find it so hard to get through since it doesn't have a particular story, but it's so easy to forget the characters that it will probably make me less likely to finish it if I put it down for other things. It's not boring...

    Holy Smoke

I find myself singing this in my head at times lately. Maybe in terms of its topic it hasn't aged well but it continues being a fun song. It doesn't have a lot of depth aside from witty lyrics. 6/10

    Favorite bands

This would be my top ten: 10. The Gathering 9. Bauhaus 8. X Japan 7. Joy Division 6. Modest Mouse 5. Massive Attack 4. Dead Can Dance 3. Blonde Redhead 2. The Sisters of Mercy 1. Iron Maiden
  9. Desdemona

    Your Maiden blasphemy

I've tried to like it, but it's not happening. Every other song in FOTD I either like or can listen through without even feeling the urge to skip.

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Even the people who like TXF seem to think of 2 AM as filler. It's very simple and yeah, not their best, but the lyrics are really direct, I like how it's so bluntly pessimistic yet not monotonous at all, so it's actually among my favorites from that album. I also like The Assassin but I...

    New posters! Who are you?

I'm Desdemona, there's really just some metal or hard rock bands that I like, but Maiden has been my favorite since I was 11 or so, even as I've discovered more. I also like some dreampop and electronica, but gothic rock/post-punk is probably my favorite genre overall. I was kinda debating...

    Flash of the Blade

This suddenly clicked with me. I already liked the intro but hadn't paid enough attention to that amazing middle section. Maybe not the very best in terms of lyrics but Bruce sings it with a lot of emotion. A shame they seem to have never played this live. 9/10
