Given the "ages" of the relevant bands, i.e. when they started and the periods I associate them with, I'm very surprised that Fast Eddie is older than KK and the KISS guys. I wonder how old he was when he joined Motorhead? (I guess I could just look it up, but that would be cheating, right?!).

But we can reverse the damage we're doing to this planet much faster. In time to allow my children, their children and their children to carry on living here. How long will it take for it to be affordable and feasible to house 6 billion people on a dead rock with no resources?

I'd argue with your first point, but not the rest. Seeing how far we can reach out is important, but whilst there are still things to discover on Earth I'd say exploration of our home planet is just as important. Especially if it finally leads to doing what is necessary to keep the planet...

So, it looks like we may hear no more from Philae, or it may reboot itself as the comet 67P gets closer to the sun. 25 years' planning and a cost of 1.4 billion euros. Is it/was it worth it? Some would argue that the money would always be better spent on healthcare, education, etc. Another view...

Alongside hard rock, I wonder if AC/DC have had an influence in the thrashier end of metal. Scott Ian talks of them as an influence. The way AC/DC often rely on a single riff, played tightly with a slight "crunch" to the guitar, may well have influenced the palm-muting technique and crunchy...

Let's agree to differ. To me, they'll always be a metal band. In the great scheme of things, it's wholly unimportant!

@RTC and @harrisdevot , Lemmy considers them a rock 'n' roll band, which is a pretty broad church, but they are, in every aspect, a metal band. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Long hair, wear black, play loud, fast music with distorted guitars and heavy drumming, solos in every song, guitar solo and drum solo every gig. Nope, nothing metal about them.

I agree with @Forostar. I think Chris Slade was a better drummer for the band during the hard rock '80s to early '90s. I didn't like Black Ice, I thought it was weak and directionless. And Phil Rudd had a good rock 'n' roll vibe, but this is a band that plays stadia. They need a 'big sound'...

I think the scratchy, painted-by-a-possessed-asylum-inmate naivety makes this cover quite sinister.
