I share this idea that there won't be any other song available before the full disc... And even if they release Stratego or whatever... I think at this point I'd rather wait to hear the entire album!
Off topic but...
The thing with Malmsteen is that he's not playing "hard rock" or "metal", yet hard-rock crowd keep evaluating his records as rock for the simple reason that he uses a electric guitar. Imagine Maiden started to include jazz improvisations and Latin rhythms in their records...
Indeed!
And not only does opinion vary incredibly from person to person. But the same person changes their tastes over time.
A lot of records I used to despise these days are my favorites! Or even entire careers! Like Dream Theater (for me)
lol the guy obviously hates songs that end as they begin :)
edit: another commentator that highlights "Time Machine".... My boy Gers always delivering at least 1 classic per album.
Even if I don't care about the opinion of professional analysts...
.... Reviews seem to agree that Time Machine is a standout!
Another home-run from my boy Gers!
I'm not even British but "British Lion" is such a powerful and mythical expression... It would be amazing if they used it as a title on a last record despite Harris's band already using it.
(It's worth remembering that Bruce already had a WickerMan and Man of Sorrows in his solo catalog... And...
I understand it's an official rule... But I can't help but think it's a little unfair. Especially in Rock/Hard/Metal and variations...
For example, the impressive guitar solos on "Caught Somewhere in Time" are what make me come back to the song again and again and again...!
I understand that...
Red/Black is the highlight of the album for me! I love the solos!
But... having said that... I confess that I edited the song...
1 excluding the chord repetition at the beginning
2 excluding the redudant instrumental before the chant "the red and the black... the Red and the black..."
3...
Truth be told... The same statement from the magazine fits perfectly in "blood brothers" and others...
And as you look all around at the world in dismay
What do you see, do you think we have learned?
Not if you're taking a look at the war-torn affray
Out in the streets where the babies are burnt
