I was at the rear standing part, close to the first pylon thing in the middle and it sounded great. The drums and Steve’s bass sounded way more powerful than I remember from previous shows. The view wasn’t great though.

Perhaps they could have ‘guest’ drummers on a few songs if they’re a bit much for Nicko. Then Nicko continues with the rest of the set. If the show is divided up in the way Legacy was, the trickier numbers could all be in one section with the guest playing. Then Nicko returns for the remainder.

Perhaps they are just going to play either Madness or Moonchild and so ran through them both to see which worked best.

Many of the arguments over CD v vinyl are foolish, especially from the CD advocates. Why? You can’t apply scientific arguments to art. As simple as that. (For the record I have a moderate set up, reasonably good amp and speakers. I have the CD and the vinyl. The vinyl is far better to listen...

Or possibly- like a friend of mine - they weren’t that fussed about Souls and so didn’t investigate this one. Sometimes the popularity of an album only reflects the enjoyment of the previous one. I think the current one is still some of their best work.

I thought this - definitely deliberate. Mr Gers referencing his greatest hits on his last song on what might be their last album. It wouldn’t be accidental - the title gives the game away!

This far surpassed my expectations. Up there with ‘The Wicker Man’ as best first single of the reunion years. It’s slightly ahead of ‘Breeg’ as I found it so unexpected. They’ve surprised me once again. Surprised as well that so many are reserved about it.

Amazon are taking pre-orders for an ‘Iron Maiden The Broadcast Archives’ six CD box set, release July 23. Surely this isn’t what the hype is for?!
