I think Blaze's Blood and Belief from 2004 were one of the first albums produced by Sneap with that particular sound. I don't think it would suit Maiden either.

I can understand them not wanting to include Blaze, as that period is viewed as a commercial failure (especially in the U.S and UK). But does Dennis Stratton, who didn't write a single song for the band and was more or less a "hired gun", really need to be included?

What about a song from the Book of Souls or The Final Frontier making the set instead of a Senjutsu track? This tour's "Lord of the Flies" (like in 2003 / 2004): Speed of Light, Death or Glory or Coming Home?

Nothing wrong with the band gaining some attention with more casual rock listeners. On a sidenote, Afraid to Shoot Strangers (31 million streams) and Be Quick or Be Dead (23 million streams) have also been top 10 tracks on Spotify in the past.

The E.P Beyond Magnetic, put out a few years after, with some songs that didn't make the album, is quite cool. And it doesn't have the same production issues with clipping as Death Magnetic.
