The Powerslave cover is far superior, but perhaps I see more similarities than you, even down to Maiden changing their font colour. (it's all subjective I suppose)

I see both your points Flash and GhostSword. I still can't help but think Riggs knew of the artwork already. It'a very similar in composition as well as general theme :) Edit: I am sure if the Earth Wind cover was released second, we would accuse it of copying Powerslave ;)

I have always loved the Powerslave artwork too, although my appreciation diminished slightly after seeing this obvious inspiration from 1978 (Earth Wind and Fire). Someone on this board pointed it out, but I have forgotten who sorry!

I played the Jam song in a cover band and the singer always sang "eating trifles" ;)

It's ironic, but that cover always reminds me of the Terminator album cover of a friends band from the 80s called "Preyer", who themselves were a Priest clone at the time.. I knew Pete the singer and played and recorded with him a few times. Great voice! Check them out, they were pretty cool...

Having them all in one place would be nice for people who are interested in Eddie in general :)

If he sounded good singing Maiden I would like it. Simple as that. Whether he would have been a good fit ......who knows? But not being British .... or specifically German ... I couldn't care less! ;)

Same here, until I recently saw the Blaze acoustic version. I thought he changed it, so I checked the lyrics out. I can hear "maybe" really clear on the original version now I know. Weird!

I still have a cassette of Aphrodite's Child (I think it is in concert IIRC). Demis Roussos (of 'Forever' fame) on lead vocal. I kinda liked it back in the day, but it's been over 25 years since I played it.
