I think the honeymoon period is over for me. Sejutsu, Writing, Lost In A Lost World, Time...
Still no change in my mind. A very solid Maiden record. I could do without Celts and Darkest Hour but that's it. Everything else is a winner with me.
Where is stands compared to the rest will take some time. But I like it better than DOD, BNW and BOS for now.
I have lived a long life, life extraordinaire
Let me tell you about it, let me take you there
I'm telling ya guys, this album is going to age very well.
I honestly think the album can do without Darkest Hour. I get it breaks thing up but Jesus, the last thing I need is another Wasting Love kind of affair. People complain about the bits of self plagiarism but that's mostly Maiden staying within the Maiden sound box. The real generic stuff is...
I'm giving DOTC another chance right now actually. There's parts I love, parts I wish Steve would have cut out. I like it better than The Clansman because it's trying to fit everyone in but...Bruce sounds like he's not into it. This to me is the worst of the Harris tunes on the album.
I'm still of the opinion that this is them taking bits from the last 20 years of albums and forming everything into a nice, tight package. I don't know if they're aware of it or they're simply doing it instinctively. It feels like the swan song of Maiden albums.
This is better than AMOLAD. Don't get me wrong I kissed that record's ass but Senjutsu seems to be more fun to listen to. It has nooks and crannies to discover like TFF. The Steve epics are great. They play around with familiar territory while also sounding unique in their own way. The melodies...
Lost In A Lost World has that recycled rhythm in the verses but has a fabulous intro and outro and the 3:38 mark and shit that kicks in at 5:00...it's really cool. I don't know. It's a track I really like while also being a little frustrated with. I'll still take it over most 90s / Blayze era...
TWOTW makes more sense now when you compare it to the rest of the album. All those YouTube comment section morons who thought Maiden were going country. Yeah...no.
The Time Machine is awesome. Keep this post. It will stand the test of time. It will age very well. So in five years when everyone understands what a great tune this is, they will label this post as being correct.
Then take the song back in time and give it to Maiden in 86 while they're...
