Why has some great songs been overlooked when it came to playing them live?

No, you're right.  And that example (playing all of A Matter...) is where Maiden, I think, does a good job of mixing it up compared to many bands.  The fact that they do this album-tour / nostalgia tour (I know they'd hate that description) sequence of late helps this.  Kiss would never dream of...

Why has some great songs been overlooked when it came to playing them live?

You make great points for sure.  And I agree that a band like Kiss does have some staples...(Detroit, Rock & Roll All Nite, etc).  But honestly I do think the band conveniently overstates this. For instance Kiss has made it a point to play 100,000 Years on just about every tour since reuniting...

    Afraid to Shoot Strangers

Re: 'afraid To Shoot Strangers' My apologies in advance if this is a favorite of yours, but I don't get the love for this song.  (Perhaps that's not the case on this particular site).  I've a friend who easily puts this in his top 5 and I'm simply perplexed.  I'm not even sure it's in the top...

    Maiden's least heavy song

Wasting Love is a good choice on the surface because it's a quasi power ballad, but I still think it's a heavy song... Choosing something completely different I think Running Free has always had a lightness and bounce to it (musically anyhow).  Never been a fan of the song either, as it turns out.

    Maiden's darkest song?

Paschendale is a great choice, both musically and lyrically.  I think Hallowed earns consideration based on the intro alone.  :) Powerslave was always sort of a dark number to me too. I'm not really into the Blaze Bayley material all that much, but I think Blood On The World's Hands is quite...

    Most Underrated Maiden Song

I think it is as well and yet it doesn't garner much talk really.  (I'm new here, so maybe I'm off base on that). :ok:

Why has some great songs been overlooked when it came to playing them live?

This is the ponderment for the fans of many bands, I'm guessing.  There are those -- Porcupine Tree, for instance -- who do a great job of shuffling oddities into the mix.  But most mainstream bands and their fans seem to suffer this same disconnect between what the bands like playing and what...

    Most Underrated Maiden Song

Hello.  New here.  :) I'd certainly list Judas Be My Guide as a very underrated Maiden song, although that's hardly my favorite album.
