Holy shit I was skeptical about Ride the Lightning but Creeping Death actually does sound like Entombed, it's uncanny. The pitch shifting also changed the tone to be very close to that Boss HM-2 sound.

Literally not the case, at least with me. And about Trumpets, well, duh. It depends on the composition, a lower scale does not automatically make for lower songs. But classic Maiden songs will be easier for Bruce if downtuned because every note he sings will be lower equally.

Honestly? I'm not sure Nicko retiring would stop the band. I think as long as Steve, Bruce and 2 of the guitarists are still around, they'd continue with a live only member. If both H and Dave retire? Not sure.

Lower tunings aren't more interesting by themselves. They're more interesting since Maiden have never done so in their entire career. We've never heard a song played in a different key to the one recorded for the album (as far as I know at least).

Yup. Don't know if you meant to quote me the first time, but I do love the melodies usually. It's the lyrics that rub me the wrong way.

I think Steve's lyrics have been pretty clunky these past 30 years. A lot of them don't make grammatical sense. Kinda bothers me, but I always pay more attention to the music anyway.
