A really impressive song for a debut album. All of Steve's best ideas at the time made it into this track.
The main theme is an inventive melody that perfectly conveys the theatrical tone of the song.
I love the way this song is structured too. Very progressive with multiple verses and lack of a...
This song was meant to be played live. It's far better in that environment with the crowd participating.
But as others have said, it has a catchy hook, a good drum beat, and the harmonized bridge in place of a solo is well done.
7/10
The quiet parts are very nice with the eerie harmonics. The riff used as a chorus is great and very memorable.
Solo section is classic Maiden. I like this song a lot, but there are much better versions. This one plods a bit much.
I much prefer any of the live versions with Bruce, but the song...
Main riff isn't particularly interesting or memorable. Feels more like a punk song aside from the solos.
Definitely feels like B-side material. Nothing terrible here, just mediocre overall. I do like the lead melody it ends on though.
5/10
Cool main riff and lead with the wah pedal make for a good intro to the album.
The song has a lot of energy and a nice bridge/solo, but I hate that it goes back into a repeat of the first verse.
That combined with the juvenile lyrics knock the score down a bit. A solid rocker that let people...
I can't imagine why they would want to limit people's options for pre-orders. Especially when Amazon is easily the most used retailer here in the US for that. It will no doubt affect the album's chart performance. The management decisions this time around continue to puzzle me.
I don't understand why the management is being so strict about pulling these interviews/reviews, especially so late in the game. TBOS is only one month away as of today, and from all the comments I've read, these stories have only been helping to hype both hardcore and casual fans of Maiden that...
I actually agree and would personally prefer a more sophisticated production quality from Maiden. However, I also respect the band's preference to record the music in their own way. As long as the songs are good, that's all I really care about in the end, and they haven't disappointed me with...
The songs on AMOLAD don't feel similar to me so much as cohesive. They feel like they belong together, especially given the thematic content of the lyrics. Some of the choruses are repetitive, but most of them also have cool guitar parts going on underneath which makes it not as noticeable for...
It's not exact to SIT (definitely not as drenched in reverb), but the guitar tone reminds me of that album, except mixed more in the vein of BNW. I personally like that mix, because those are two of my favorite albums production-wise. Then again, it's only 27 seconds, so we won't really know for...
The production definitely reminds me of Somewhere in Time, but more modern. That's how I was hoping TFF would sound, it would have fit perfectly with the epics on that album. I'm digging the sound of Nicko's drums too, the snare sounds powerful again.
I was also hoping to hear some of Bruce's vocals, especially given what we've heard in the interviews from Steve and Janick about how great he sounds. But at this point anything is much appreciated from the Maiden camp. That melody is really cool, I would imagine it's from Speed of Light.
I've been registered here for a while (since around TFF's release), but only recently got around to actually posting. I'm also a member of the official IMFC forum, but this one is more enjoyable to read because of the commentary. I love the discussions about the specific songs and albums and...
The new song is very good, especially the middle section and the chorus. The best part has to be the production, though. I loved the songs on the self titled album, but the production was terrible. This sounds way better.
I also love Janick's epics. DOD and Legacy are two of my favorite Maiden songs. However, while Talisman is pretty good in its own right, the second part of acoustic intro does feel too similar to the opening of Legacy. Hopefully, this one will be something new altogether.
