Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

ATG, it's probably my favorite Maiden solo. Like a lot of Adrian's solos from SIT, it transports you to another world. Spectacular.

    If Eternity Should Fail

This has now cracked my top 5 Maiden album openers, beating out Moonchild. I hope they start the show with it for this tour. Both CSIT solos are absolutely fantastic. Easy win for this round.

The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

I was hoping for a Tampa show again, but I guess Ft. Lauderdale it is! At least it will give me a reason to check out Rock N Roll Ribs while I'm down there.

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

Wasted Years is the easy number 1. There's such passion in that solo, one of the best in the entire IM catalogue. Second choice is The Clairvoyant.

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

Wow, tough choice, I love all of these solos. I'll take Aces High and The Unbeliever, but Blood Brothers is wonderful as well.

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

I don't hear anything particularly memorable in the Clansman solo. It sounds like a pretty average Janick solo to me. He's done much better ones.

Iron Maiden songs that you flat out dislike?

As a guitarist, I haven't found any Maiden songs particularly difficult to learn as far as rhythm and basic lead go. SSOASS (the song) has some fairly intricate lead bits and quick changes in the instrumental section, but nothing too insane. It's mostly the solos that are difficult (if you're...

    Shadows Of The Valley

This one has been growing on me as of late. I'm still not too keen on the intro due to the Wasted Years riff re-use, but the rest of the song is quite good, especially the chorus.

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

My first choice is Adrian's Coming Home solo which is excellent and really contrasts well with Dave's that precedes it. Second is The Talisman, one of the more unconventional Maiden solos. It works similar to the WED solo in creating tension and imagery for the disastrous storm being described...

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

Stranger, it's one of my favorite solos ever. It has so much atmosphere and emotion, one of Adrian's best for sure.

Iron Maiden songs that you flat out dislike?

I don't care about the opinions of "casual" Maiden fans. If I did, I wouldn't be posting or reading discussions here.

    TBOS Tour Predictions

I think IESF would make a great opener. The band naturally speeds songs up live anyway.

    Empire Of The Clouds

This was the only song that immediately stood out as an instant classic. It sure didn't take any convincing, as there are several others on the album that don't really impress me, but this one continues to get better with each listen. Every section is there for a reason if you're paying...

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

Some of his solos are amazing (DOD, Blood Brothers), and many others are instantly forgettable. I guess that is bound to happen when you prefer to improvise the way he does, sometimes without even doing a few takes. As a songwriter, he's been incredible though, producing many of my favorite...
