The title track is the third song I'm most excited for, after both of Bruce's songs. Janick is probably the most consistently great songwriter in the band these days and his songs are usually highlights of the album, like The Legacy, Dance of Death or Man on the Edge. However, as I've said...
Maybe. I feel like If Eternity Should Fail might end up being a hidden gem, due to its shorter length in comparison to the other epics of the album (assuming it is an epic).
That said, you're absolutely right that this album will be a real treat. I have a feeling that if it's consistent in...
It'll be one of the two Bruce tracks for me, I think. He's my favorite songwriter in the band and the descriptions of both of his songs really grab my attention.
I'm not sure what to think of Eternity yet, from the description of the review. I think it's going to be more akin to Bruce's solo material than anything else, especially if it really is the heaviest track to ever come from the band.
It's probably the track I'm most excited about for the...
I'm curious about that song too, as there was a lot in that song description that I liked. If he's got another Clansman or Sign of the Cross in him for this, I'll be stoked. That said, it's probably the epic I'm least interested in hearing. Bruce writing two entirely on his own has, which open...
I just stumbled across this old ditty of info and had to wonder if Dave changed his mind over time in the studio for what sound he wanted or not. If we are indeed getting more of a Piece of Mind sounding production, I certainly won't mind, but it doesn't sound like it from the snippet. I guess...
It could also be damage control on something that Janick might have said within the interview, such as that comment that he'd prefer for no one to hear anything off the album before its release. Found it rather ironic how he said that in the interview and then the next day, we got our first...
Agreed, they're not going to go in that direction again. Moreover, I'm not even sure that we'll be getting any more studio albums after this. But Mosh made an even better point with:
Of course it's exaggerated, the early ones often are. That said, it still gives us a better idea of what the album will be like and we can get a better idea of what the album highlights are (i.e. If Eternity Should Fail, the title track, Empire of the Clouds and maybe The Red and the Black).
I don't think there's going to be too much orchestral parts backing up Empire anyway. More than we're used to for Maiden, but I don't know if it'll reach Blind Guardian's exact levels. Just from that sense of scale and general mindset. That's why I could also see it sounding similar to say...
Possibly! Obviously, part of it would have to come down to whether or not they'll make any more albums after The Book of Souls or not. It sounds like this album's also a bit darker than The Final Frontier was, so there might be other musical elements on the album that pave the way they'll go...
Arguably my favorite off of AMOLAD, alongside maybe Lord of Light. This song is Janick's masterpiece and one of the absolute best songs the band has ever written and recorded.
Yeah, I doubt the vocal melodies would be that exaggerated, but the general sense of scope of And Then There Was Silence was what I had in mind. Either that or something like Gutter Ballet by Savatage.
Oddly enough, I keep picturing some weird blend of the title track off of Tyranny of Souls...
I'm getting some serious Savatage or Blind Guardian vibes from the description of Empire of the Clouds. After all, it mentions that the song has both piano and orchestral parts. Should be fantastic!
Okay, so we now know that Empire of the Clouds is about the R101 aircraft tragedy of 1930!
Very interesting subject for Bruce to write about!
Also, If Eternity Should Fail is apparently really heavy and has a rather psychedelic opening. I'm getting seriously hyped for that track!
