    Your Maiden blasphemy

Well, to be fair, Nicko is the oldest member in the band and he's got the most physically demanding job. I'm not at all surprised that he's getting a bit slow. It happens. I've wondered about Adrian and Janick for awhile now and I recently listened to an interview Adrian did with Eddie Trunk. I...

    TBOS Tour Predictions

I'm inclined to disagree; AMOLAD is probably the album that the band best nailed their quest for a "live" sound, even if it's not exactly the production I'd have gone for. Pretty much every song translated very well live. Thinking about songs like Starblind though, I couldn't see them playing...

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

I'm going to guess we'll start getting more reviews once Speed of Light is out next week. It might not be immediate, but I think the band's holding off until then for reviews and interviews getting published.
  4. Chained Prometheus

    Dance of Death

This song's always been one of my personal favorites. As far as works by Janick go, it's bested only by The Legacy. However there's no denying that Dance of Death is a far more "fun" song to listen to. It's theatrical as can be and really lets Bruce go full-throttle. I actually think that's...
  5. Chained Prometheus

    TBOS Tour Predictions

Potentially. I think it'd depend on multiple factors, such as the length of each segmented setlist, the length of the intermission and the space of days in between shows. Give Bruce a bit of a breather with, say, a thirty minute intermission in-between sets and then two or three days between...

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

We know that's what you hear, Travis. We're just answering the question that you asked. At the end of the day, if you haven't heard it yet, I don't know if you will in the future. There's nothing wrong with that though. However I hear it, as do other people, so don't be surprised if we bring it...

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

I'm thinking/hoping that we're in for a better performance/production for Bruce this time around. It seems that Bruce (and the quality of the album) does outstanding on every other album (BNW, AMOLAD and hopefully TBOS).
  8. Chained Prometheus

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

I honestly think it has to do with the recording process itself. Since the band's out for a live sound, they apparently record most of the songs together and do several takes for the majority of the song and then do stuff like guitar solos and other additional things later. With that, I think...

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

Yeah, while Bruce has held up very well vocally over the years, his performance on TFF wasn't always the best. It certainly wasn't as impressive as it was on AMOLAD or BNW. It could be the age factor, but I'd expect that to carry over into this album too, but it sounds like that didn't really...
  10. Chained Prometheus

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Yeah, I actually just decided to start watching it right now. Currently at Caught Somewhere in Time. I will say that using the Blade Runner music to open the show was pretty inspired (Vangelis's score for that film is incredible). It'd be neat to see them do that again in the future. Yeah...
  11. Chained Prometheus

    Your Maiden blasphemy

I've seen parts of the Paris bootleg. Never the whole thing. I'll aim to check it out entirely later tonight! ;)
  12. Chained Prometheus

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Hmm. I probably haven't spent enough time going over the Somewhere on Tour bootlegs to make a proper opinion on the matter, it seems. That said, the setlist for that tour does look positively incredible.
  13. Chained Prometheus

    Your Maiden blasphemy

I hadn't thought about that! Not to mention, wasn't that when Bruce was also going through a divorce and fighting an ongoing cold or something? All that, along with his noted dissatisfaction for not being able to contribute to the new material, had to have been emotionally taxing on him. Combine...

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

Aside from the comparisons we've been getting to SiT's guitar sound, I'm also eager to hear how Bruce sounds on the album. Every comment on the album itself brings up his apparently phenomenal performance and one compared it to his performance on SiT (which is great, even if he didn't write any...
  15. Chained Prometheus

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Oh definitely, but it's really noticeable in Bruce's voice. Especially during the Somewhere on Tour bootlegs.
  16. Chained Prometheus

    TBOS Tour Predictions

That's a good one. I can't remember which bootleg was my personal favorite. I think it was a performance in Europe though. EDIT: Lord of Light is tied with The Legacy as my favorite song from AMOLAD. :D
  17. Chained Prometheus

    TBOS Tour Predictions

I've seen some footage of a few shows in 2006. One of the best moments in the post-reunion era so far, IMO, is the band playing Lord of Light live. Bruce slayed on that song live.
  18. Chained Prometheus

    Your Maiden blasphemy

The thing I've always noticed about Bruce's live performances in the 80's were that his strongest performances in each show/live album I've heard were almost always on either the newest songs or the deep cuts that he didn't get to sing quite as often. The regulars like Hallowed, Number, Run or...
  19. Chained Prometheus

    TBOS Tour Predictions

Eh, it happens! :) It was quite possibly the ballsiest thing the band's ever done live and I missed it by two years! Would've been great to see in person. Fair enough, but I'm pretty sure that they played the synth stuff live via synthesized guitars and bass back in 1986 (the ones with all...
