I always refer back to Iron Maiden as an example for how some older bands should be doing their setlists. Queensryche, for example, could be doing much better live if they took a page from Maiden's touring notebook.
That's a shame. It would obviously be preferable to have a more clear sounding rhythm section. However I do think the guitars sound nicer here than they did on TFF.
It is weird that Steve is barely in the mix. He is there and you can hear his bass lines, it just takes a lot of concentration and effort to look for him. It's just very unlike Maiden though.
I don't think it would have been written in the 80's. That's not a slight against the song, it's just that Bruce and Adrian were pretty different songwriters back then. If you hate the song, that's fine, but I don't think you should expect the band to sound like they did in the 80's. Hell, they...
I personally am really enjoying the song. However I don't think it's wrong if other people dislike the track or feel underwhelmed by it. We all love Iron Maiden for different reasons and expect different things from them, whether we realize it or not.
I'm a bit conflicted on that myself. However I will say that I think the production is still the best we've had since BNW, at least in terms of mixing. Dave mentioned in a magazine sometime ago that he wanted to recapture his old tone from the NotB/PoM days and while I don't think he got that...
Likewise. Hell, my younger cousin by about a decade surprised me by understanding a subtle joke involving a game that I used to play as a kid. Before she was born. Plenty of people are interested and aware of classic games, I think.
I think the last game was definitely a deliberate nod to the...
This music video was the music video equivalent of Derek Riggs' album cover for Somewhere in Time. There are so many references to the band's history in this music video! And as a gamer myself, I loved that whole element of the video itself too.
Also, was anyone else thinking of Ed Hunter while...
I think Different World is really underrated personally. It's a great musical tribute to Thin Lizzy.
That said, as someone else said in this thread, the band sounds like they're having fun on Speed of Light. There's a twinge of excitement to the sound that I don't think I've heard from the...
