Makes me glad I pre-ordered the Deluxe edition of the album when I did. I'm just hoping I don't have to buy the album a second time there for the digital MP3 album to match it (they're really wonky about this stuff over in the US).
I'm not so sure. To me, it just comes off that the band is trying to wait until the very last minute to put out new info on the album. I'm not sure how good of an idea that is.
That's a fair enough point, but the problem is that people are going to be talking about it for awhile. The best that they can do is just briefly answer it and then move on, or request that the subject not be brought up in the interviews.
Probably, but that's still a really weird way to go...
This is really weird. What the heck is going on behind-the-scenes right now? Did Bruce relapse and they're delaying the album and all media for it or something (I sincerely hope not)? The management is acting really weird right now.
This song is to Steve Harris and Iron Maiden what Jar Jar Binks was to George Lucas and Star Wars. However, Steve thankfully wised up and got everything back together (and there's some great stuff on VXI itself).
It'll never happen, but I'd love for the band to not play FotD for at least one tour. If they can hold off on playing Hallowed for three years in a row, surely they can do the same for FotD too, right? That said, I do agree with your main point; I really want to get at least one song off of the...
Yeah, I'm well aware that the band's been heavily focusing on trying to capture a "live" feeling on their post-reunion albums. However, there's more than one way to do that, and it sounds like they experimented with a new approach on that regard with The Book of Souls. We'll just have to see if...
Eh, I'm willing to give it a shot. Janick made a good point; sometimes you've got to mix it up to keep yourself from being your own parody. The vibe I'm getting from that description, along with what Steve means by how the album is "live," is that the band went for a more improvisational...
Eh, I'm not too worried about that myself. If anything, Janick seems really proud of the title track and how it turned out. Also, after having Janick now compare Empire of the Clouds to a musical, I'm learning even more to the idea that it's got some Savatage vibes going on.
No, this is a different interview. Brand new.
EDIT: Nevermind, just saw that you also posted the interview earlier. Didn't see it at all, man. Gomenasai.
I have a very special feeling about this album, one that I didn't have for The Final Frontier five years ago. I was excited for that one, but I was disappointed by the immediate direction of the album after hearing El Dorado for the first time. I wanted a darker album, like AMOLAD, but I've...
I recall reading at least three to five different reviews for The Final Frontier before the album came out. One of which was a track-by-track review, which I'm sure we'll end up getting for The Book of Souls too.
Not necessarily. The review seems to indicate that If Eternity Should Fail goes by pretty quickly, despite its long length. It just has a moody opening part. I doubt it'll be anything like the previous openers on the post-reunion albums though.
Considering how massive this new album is, I think the band might boost up the number of songs in their setlist for the new tour to try and balance out the new songs alongside the classics and previous post-reunion songs. I could very well be wrong about that, but it's just a feeling I'm getting.
