    Misheard lyrics

Hear the Rime of the ancient mariner seize highs it stops what a free mesmerize is a word of the win again stay here and listen to the nightmares out the sea This is what I hear when I listen to it.

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

Lately, Dave Murray would have been my second choice in the category of dissatisfactory live solos, not H. Murray also seems guilty of playing endless legato hammer on and pull offs without any sort of phrasing. With 'messing up' I don't refer to mistakes, but playing a solo ugly, like no...

Iron Maiden songs that you flat out dislike?

I can understand all of them except Alexander the Great. That main melody is legendary.

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

Consistent in messing up solos in concert :P

Iron Maiden songs that you flat out dislike?

The Number of the Beast. It's way too cheery and happy and an incredible letdown when that happy mainriff starts playing after an ominous vocal intro. I never listen to this song.

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

Janick Gers.. I like his writings, I like his playing of rhtymns and harmonies and melodies and licks and what not. I love his raw and burning guitar tone. I love his solos on albums. I like his stage appearences. But I heavily dislike his way of handling solos in concert. He has no phrasing...

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

Yeah.. but again, for what does he need the middle PU?

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

I got a question. Does Maiden ever even use the middle pick-ups? I ask this because I saw that Dave has recently switched out his Hot Rails in the middle for a SD JB's. Why though? And again, where can we hear middle pick-ups being used both in studio and live?

Favorite Maiden song you've never seen live

The Nomad This is my number 1 Iron Maiden song and hearing it live would be literally amazing for me. It's way too bad that they will almost certainly never play it because they have the dignity of knowing they ripped off half of the song from Beckett's 'Life's Shadow' and couldn't perform it...

The Book Of Souls (song not album)

It will be so funny to see Janick drag along his accoustic guitar around the world for the tour just to play those few notes of melody in the intro and outro.

The concept of rating albums and comparing it to others..

This is something I personally find a bit inappropriate for the following reasons.. In this age we have lived in for well over a decade where most of us have the songs on our computers and portable players, where we can make a playlist of songs we want to listen and the ones that we don't I find...

The Book of Souls: General album discussion

I listened to the first disc and it sounded to me like this was more of a progression from the Dance of Death style album. It feels more 'hard rock' than 'heavy metal'...which is errr not something I like. I never listen to the DoD album save for the title track and Paschendale because of it. I...

    The Red And The Black

I really like the way Bruce sings the verses, normal and high, normal and high. And the similar guitar melody underneath (and after it?). Catchy and it's looping in my thoughts now.

    Virtual XI appreciation

When Two Worlds Collide is great, the chorus is melodically pleasing. Lightning Strikes Twice sounds warm and melancholic before kicking into higher gears. Great overlooked song. I don't particularly like Clansman because the 'freedooooom' part sounds grating to my ears and is repeated too much...

The Book of Souls: General album discussion

I have listened to the second disc today. I didn't feel much at all. The beginning of Shadows of the Valley (which is such a typical cliche metal song title) resembles Wasted Years, I thought that was neat. But the rest of the song grinded on my ears and I was so relieved when it was over...

    The Red And The Black

One thought that occured to me when I heard the numerous changes in melodies and tempo shifts was that it was just a bunch of different harmonies and ideas pasted together in a long row, that gave me a smile. Oh and the obligatory 'ooh-ooh' insertion was just extra cheese on the cake haha.

    Empire Of The Clouds

Listened to it for the first time a half hour ago. First impressions are as follows.. ..nothing really stood out for me except Adrian's solo. Mind you by 'nothing stood out' I don't imply a negative feeling or judgement, just that at first listen nothing really grabbed me but the Adrian solo. It...

    The Red And The Black

Just listened to this song. At first I was feeling a bit of Fear of the Dark era style to the song and towards the middle and end a Brave New World album type of feel emerged for me. Very good. So far this is the only song I listened to and I can already tell this song has more balls than the...

The Book of Souls - Deluxe Book Contents

I just bought the Deluxe edition today and looked through it. It's really nothing special. It's a regular cd booklet in a slightly larger format. Nothing Deluxe about it. A bit of a shame but I don't regret giving money for it because it's Maiden and I wanna support them in the best ways I can.

It's sickening how underrated Lord of Light is

So instead of accepting you failed to read twice what I meant, thus twisting my words and message, you resort to moving on to the next question? Yeah, this discussion isn't gonna go anywhere. You have made it clear what your preferred way of 'discussing' things is.
