The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

I knew No More Tears was a fantastic song, but on relisten it’s certainly better than I remember. Ozzy benefited from having enough money and fame to always associate him with the best musicians for his solo band. His first couple albums are an awesome showcase of some of the best musicians in...

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

That Alice In Chains song was pretty good, ultimately voting for Gypsy however as Uriah Heep is a band I’ve been meaning to get more into. That main groove underneath the verse in Gypsy kills, and I love the keys in it. I seem to remember a single edit of Gypsy I enjoyed more of this song, but...

Great nominations this round from @Kalata and @KidInTheDark666

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

Debut is an excellent place to start. Great mix of hard rock, glam and little (actually a lot) of that sweet, sweet early 80’s speed. As for a single song as a sampler, Hellion off that album is a good jumping off point. Excellent lyrics on that one too.

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

Hold in the Sky is awesome, what a killer groove in that song, shame it has to go against Animal.

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

Animal is a bonafide heavy metal classic, and its crass title shouldn’t dissuade you (yes, YOU!) from listening to it. Getting all my other votes out of the way too before going into the probably the best matchup this game has seen: Blood of My Enemies, Melvins (nice surprise), Hendrix, Mean...

IRON MAIDEN ALBUM RANKING: TOP THREE REVEALED

I didn’t realize the forum thought this highly of Brave New World. It is quite good, Nicko’s drums CRUSH on this album, especially his bass drum. That drum sound is just perfect.

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

I should clarify, it’s not so much an active hatred anymore, it’s more so when I’m in metal circles with metal people and I still see these bands being brought up. It brings on a sort of “come on man” thought in my head. I was hoping these bands would’ve left the collective metal consciousness a...

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

Also seeing bands like Korn and Linkin Park in here reminds of how I first got into heavy metal, and how my “journey” differs a lot from people my age. Even at a young age, I’ve always been annoyed with the nu metal and modern rock sound. I have very specific memories of being 11/12/13 and...

The Greatest Metal Song Cup - Part II, Round 5, Matches 79-84

747 is a classic obviously, but I’ve always been more struck by Wheels of Steel. Also voting for Blind Guardian, Thin Lizzy, not Korn, Mountain, and Black Sabbath

Attitude is one of the only “groove”/“nu” metal era Sepultura songs I like, but Dead Skin Mask is a classic!

    KISS

I talk to my brother about this all the time, Singer stepped in for Criss in 2001~ for those final stretch of the farewell shows then and the band sounded AMAZING with that lineup. Like they were seriously on fire with Singer and Ace, one of my favorite and most underrated KISS lineups. The Live...

    KISS

Yes, like I said earlier the suspension of disbelief you have to do to buy into modern KISS borders on full-on delusion. Singer and Thayer are good musicians respectively though.

    KISS

Final setlist was pretty disappointing. Same set they’ve been doing for more or less the last 15 years. Hate to say this though but “it is what it is”. Every KISS fan ever should know what this band is (or was) at this point. Sometimes suspending disbelief to buy into the modern form of KISS...
