    Wasted Years

It’s not easy to rate this song properly. On the one hand it’s a damn incredible song. On the other hand, it’s kinda poppy for them, even though it’s most definitely their best “pop” song. I’ll give them this one, judging solely on the song itself, it’s a 10/10. Good job Adrian

    Caught Somewhere In Time

Incredible opener, for another amazing album. Great intro and gallop, I also really love the bass, especially during the solos. It could have possibly been slightly shorter though. 9/10, and only because I’m really trying to be stingy with the 10s

    Rime of the Ancient Mariner

This is the first Maiden song I listened to, as far as I can remember. Strangely enough, I discovered it thanks to my English teacher, that mentioned it while talking about Coleridge. Since I really liked the Rime already, I decided to look it up. At first I was kinda scared by the length of the...

    Powerslave

My absolute favourite. When I first started listening to Maiden, this was possibly the song that really got me hooked. The main riff is kinda hypnotic, and it sounds much faster than it actually is, which is definitely a good thing. Lyrics and solos, along with pretty much everything else, are...

    Back in the Village

Probably the least inspired song on this incredible album. Intro and riffs are quite good, and some parts of the song are quite catchy, but I’m not really a fan of the vocals. 6/10

    The Duellists

Another one that is quite underrated. The instrumental section is brilliant, but maybe it’s a bit too long for the length of the song. The chorus is a weird combination of kinda annoying and very catchy, but I like it this way. 8/10

    Flash of the Blade

I think this song is quite underrated. I love the intro and the instrumental section. They really should have tried it live in my opinion. 9/10

    Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)

Very enjoyable, although having Bruce Dickinson in your band and doing an instrumental is almost a crime. 8/10

    2 Minutes to Midnight

One of their best, probably my favourite Adrian song (Bruce’s is later in this album). I don’t think there’s anything that really stands out from this song, it’s just everything is perfectly placed, both in the song and in the album, from the energetic riff to the tempo changes. 10/10

    Aces High

I'm going to be completely honest here. I know this is a very good song, but I honestly don't enjoy it that much. The intro is very atmospheric and the song is a very energetic opener, Bruce sounds great and the lyrics are good, same can be said about the solos. However, there is something off...

    To Tame a Land

Steve sounds incredible on this song. Bruce is great too, and it all works quite well, but overall I get the feeling something is still missing to rank this song among the great Maiden epics. 8/10 for me

    Sun and Steel

It’s an ok song. The gallop is very nice, the bass is very good overall, but the rest is pretty unremarkable. 6/10

    The Trooper

Another classic. It’s not my personal favourite of theirs, and in a way it leans a bit towards commercial, but it’s still an amazing song. The galloping rhythm, the solo and most definitely the bass make this song, all within 4 minutes.

    Quest For Fire

The solos are good, the intro is interesting, all the rest is pretty terribl though. The lyrics are childish and the horrific first line definitely doesn’t help. I get it’s just a line but it really makes you cringe and I don’t know how let it slip through in a great album. Overall, 4/10

    Still Life

Great song. I love the riff that is repeated through the verses, together with the lyrics it provides the good kind of creepyness. 9/10

    Die With Your Boots On

It’s a very catchy and enjoyable song but it’s slightly repetitive. 7/10

    Flight of Icarus

It’s a strange take on the myth, but an interesting one nonetheless. I don’t think it was caused by ignorance of the original but rather by a wish to do something different. The Live After Death version is pretty great, the faster speed rocks especially at the beginning. 8/10

    Revelations

The first song credited to Bruce by Iron Maiden and definitely one of his best. The lyrics are incredibly cryptic, but still very interesting, and work incredibly well with the song altogether, comtributing to the amtosphere of the song. Great solos too. 10/10

    Where Eagles Dare

Nicko has the best possible studio debut for Iron Maiden here, he is absolutely incredible on this song. The rest is decent but not incredible, and the song possible lasts a bit too long for its creative content. Still very enjoyable. 8/10

    Hallowed Be Thy Name

No doubt about it. Marvellous lyrics, amazing atmosphere, great emphasis on the verses, good solo, a complete masterpiece. Obvious 10/10
