    The real problem with Virtual

I agree with everything you said here.

I purchased a couple of nice Virtual XI related items recently. A huge 3ft x 5ft Virtual XI flag from Germany and a magazine from 1998 called Hard Roxx that has Maiden and the Virtual XI album cover on the front. I'll be posting a video about them on my youtube channel in the next few days...

Thank you. I really appreciate the help from you and everyone else on here. I was half expecting to be bombarded with "Why do you even like Blaze Bayley? You freak." type replies. It's nice to know that people aren't being like that.

Exactly. Bruce had left. It was either going to be a new singer or nothing.

Yeah I read somewhere that a few of the tracks from Brave New World were created for Blaze to sing, not Bruce. Blaze's acoustic version of Blood Brothers is pretty good in my opinion. I'd love to hear any full band demos of Brave New World tracks with Blaze singing.

Yeah I feel really bad for him. I know it crushed him when he had to leave in '99, and it seems like a lot of fans resented him just because he wasn't Bruce and didn't have the same vocal range. Maybe if Maiden had recruited a singer with godlike singing ability (Dio maybe?) instead, those...

I'm going to spend a few hours tomorrow going through the links people have kindly posted here. I'll post anything funny or interesting I find. Maiden fans still seem to dislike Virtual XI after all these years, so I imagine that the opinions of it when it was released were even more brutal...

Virtual XI was the first Maiden album I absorbed, so it was that album that made me a fan. I wasn't emotionally attached to Bruce, so I was able to just enjoy the Blaze albums without any of the resentment. I even enjoy The Angel And The Gambler.

Thank you. I have googled it several times but couldn't find anything. I know there are old video games forums from the late 90s that are still accessible online, so maybe there are some about our favourite band too.

I just joined a couple of hours ago to ask if anyone could direct me towards any archived internet chat forums from 1998. I want to read what Maiden fans were posting about Virtual XI when it was unleashed at the time. The whole Blaze Bayley era is fascinating to me.
