I've always preferred the über-sludgey and heavy sound of Remission and I'm pleased to see they're starting to return to that sound somewhat. Though oddly I'm not too big a fan of Leviathan because while Blood and Thunder is a killer opener, the songs are so indistinct and unmemorable from there...
My opinion is always subject to change when it comes to the reunion albums tbh. Sometimes I think albums like BNW and TFF are equal if not superior to the 80s albums, and other times I'm like "what a ton of watered down crap"
I think a pretty blatant example of this is the lifeless production on The X-Factor where Steve got a little too giddy with making his bass as LOUD AS FUCKING POSSIBLE LIKE THIS and giving the guitars a really thin and wimpy sound.
I tried fixing the shitty production by remastering the song myself. I meddled with the EQ to get rid of that muddy sound and boosted the treble frequencies to give the guitars a more crisp and pronounced sound, because the bass+drums are just clogging up the whole thing on the original. Vocals...
It's an actual piece. It's supposed to be making a statement, but John Cage was a hack composer who relied more on being provocative and gimmicky rather than actual igenuity in his works.
Btw I'm far from being a music snob, and it takes a lot for me to call any artist a hack.

It's scored for an entire orchestra and there are time changes, modulations, tempo markings, i.e. pretty much everything. I get a good...
I really love Endgame to be honest, not only is it an awesome comeback after a whole slew of crap, it's an awesome record in its own right. If only they kept up with that inspiration.
How did Symphony of Destruction make it this far?
I personally get annoyed by how Janick constantly butchers solos live, especially when they're not even his. For example, they'll hand off an iconic H or Davey lead to give Janick something to do, and he just royally screws it up.
