Still Life is basically Godbluff pt 2, World Record is even more mellow...VDGG mellow that is. Ha. Then it became something else. The more recent reunion albums are uniformly excellent.
Re-Load and St. Anger are like the X Factor/Virtual 11 of the Metallica catalog for me.
The only saving grace dor SA is the songs they put out with the band actually playing together.
Floyd never took the orchestra on the road. They would hire orchestras along the way that's why sometimes they had singers and sometimes not they just hired whatever they could find. I'm sure that was still really expensive but they technically never took the orchestra on the road.
VDGG is great. I love Hammills solo works as well but much of it lacks rhe color, variety and passion rhat Van def Graff has. Nadir is kind of an anomoly in his catalog. The only one that comes close is Vital but is really not indicative of their sound. Its a different lineup with only Guy...
The whole thing flows together nicely imo. Hard to separate it out actually. Theres nothing on this album thats crap imho. Two great ones in a row for me. Im not as much a fan as the next two but the three after that is peak PT.
