The thing is, it was nearly a week ago, when one of the mods said they were working on the rules for TBoS spoilers. And, I don't want to come across as entitled or impatient, but I honestly wonder how a handful of mods can't come up with a plan in under a week? I mean, half hour to discuss a...
Click on the link in the OP. It will open the google document. Scroll to the right, until you see 2014. I was MIA when the voting happened, but I'm assuming that's what it means, unless I'm reading the document wrong.
Also, the amount from each era in the top 50.
IM, Killers - 3
NotB, PoM, Power - 12
SiT, SSoaSS - 9
NPftD, FotD - 2
TXF, VXI - 2
BNW, DoD - 10
AMoLaD, TFF - 12
In the top 50, there are 21 songs from the 5 classic...
7 options, choose 2.
I’ve taken all of the song ratings from 2014. (The furthest out from TFF to try and avoid new album bias.) I then divided the albums up into eras, and took the top ten song from each era to form albums. Obviously NotB - Powerslave has a huge advantage for having three...
PLEASE CLARIFY
People are upset by the second BoS thread being opened. So my question, are the following quotes an accurate statement?I will act accordingly until someone with authority tells me otherwise.
Maybe you thought I was stretching with the above statement. So, there is an example...
1. The title track also has a chorus. (I don't know how specific we want to get, but that is a true fact, and a potentially interesting one considering Gers' other epics.)
2. Would it be helpful to have all of the links to interviews and reviews in the first post as well? Would be more work...
Travis, I agree with you for the most part. It's just difficult/frustrating sometimes knowing what's appropriate and what's not..
For example, I was given a warning during The Final Frontier tour, because I mentioned I thought Steve's shirt, "Whale Oil Beef Hook" was fun. Apparently that was...
And some people may not go to the official site for fear of spoilers. Would talking about who wrote what and the names of the songs be considered a spoiler for those people? Where do we draw the line? That's a serious question, cause I honestly don't know. I'm sure it's mentioned somewhere in...
If any of the following:
1. The name of the album
2. The name of the songs
3 The length of the songs
4. The writing credits for the songs
5. The artwork for the album
Do not have to be in spoiler tags, than why should the details of interviews with bandmates? It would be odd to be selective...
What I loved about DoD, The Legacy, and The Talisman, and what makes Gers my favourite song writer of the three is:
1. The weird sometimes zany riffs.
2. The Acoustic intros
3. Having no chorus, or in the case of The Talisman, one that is rarely used.
Edited for spoiler tag.
Chains of Misery is the best song on FOTD. Weekend Warrior is also near the top.
The fast part that cuts off the super catchy melody in ATSS, is a total shame as it ruins the song.
Read an article today on a scientific study about your personality helping to define your musical taste. The results of the study seemed like common sense in a lot of ways, but I figured there is still something to discuss.
The article...
I sometimes wonder if we have it easy. If I were Maiden, and I recorded an album 7-8 months ago, but couldn't talk about it, or share it with anyone.. well that's tough. I'm sure they worked hard on this album and are proud of it. When I'm creating something, and am proud of it, I immediately...
I'm not saying my suggestions are great, just fun ideas for alternatives. That being said, I don't think they're all titled perfectly. Both Blaze albums, along with Piece of Mind, and Killers could have been better. The rest either suit just fine, or as you said, work perfectly.
The idea came to me while thinking about The Book of Souls, and how If Eternity Should Fail, or Empire of Clouds would make for a better album title. (Assuming there isn't tribal themes throughout.)
So rename all 15 albums using either a song name from that album or a name that you feel bests...
I think it will only be the title track that has some tribal themes, in which case they wasted a better album title, If Eternity Should Fail or Empire of the Clouds, or even The Great Unknown.
Brave New World
It's the most melodic, has the most harmonies, and the production doesn't sound dry. Like someone else said in another thread earlier today, it suited AMOLAD but felt really out of place on TFF. Imagine Starblind with a SIT production!
The other albums have higher highs, but...
